I don't understand why people are making such an issue about Ashley. Her hair grew and she got new armor, who cares? What's so "demeaning" about that? Apparently girls with long hair are sl.uts now. <_<

Not demeaning or "promiscuous", but stupid if they came to the conclusion that looking pretty is more important than increased survival odds on the field of battle.

Edit - just to clarify, I meant wearing loose hair in battle.

I was assuming her hair is down because of the trial for Shepard on Earth and we've only seen her during some of the events on Earth. That's basically my perspective, I won't really care if she keeps it down or in a bun, Ash is Ash.

What, UGLY?! Define UGLY.
To me she looks like a hooker. And more specifically cheap wanna-behooker/Cerberus-Cheerleader. Seriously BioWare,
WE HAVE MIRANDA! AND ONLY MIRANDA CAN DO MIRANDA!
Do Anybody else and they simply end up looking simply ridiculous. Like Ash. nuff said.
And while i´m am not particulary an Ash fan, i still like her character.
And one of her character´s strongest point is her believability.

She is still okay for me. There better be decent armour in battle though.

I feel the same way.  Her new look is fine for out of combat situations, or hanging out on the Normandy. But when the shooting starts, I hope to see her pull her hair back and put on some nice thick armor.

I think she looks great, and definately think it's an improvement (IMHO). And I think she doesn't look like Miranda at all...

The chance in hairstyle will probably be something that she's a Spectre now so her hair doesn't have to be conform military regulations. I wouldn't know how practical it would be or not, being a gentleman and never have had such hair length, but you do know that the hairphysics will stink anyway so it will look exactly the same whatever she's doing. Or maybe they have very strong hair fixation stuff in 2186.

This.

It's not like anyone stayed with her as a romance in ME3. :P

If Bioware fixes her nose though. God it's like a mountain!

I can't be the only one who found her bun (I mean the hair!) and heavy armour attractive.

I wouldn't say it was ugly at all, just not really in line with her personality.

Yes, because a person's appearance reflects their personality.

Seriously, do you actually believe that?

Have none of you ever stopped to figure that the reason why she has had her hair in a bun until now is because, hey, she's in the military and adheres to military dress codes because that is expected of her, and that when off-duty (or in a position where she can make up the damn rules, such as when being a Spectre), she might want to keep her hair down and spruce herself up just because she f***ing can.

But no, it's not in line with her personality.

.Mordin's outfit reflects his personality, just how Ashley's bun in ME1 is a bit of a reflection on her tomboyish nature.

In the military females have to keep their hair tied up in a bun while on duty.

Ashley having her hair in a bun is a reflection of a common military regulation, not a reflection of her personality.

Fem Shep can have her hair in a bun as well. She isn't limited to that because it would limit the Fem Sheps to only one hairstyle.

Ashley's hair is in a bun because she's an Alliance Marine, not because that is how she wears her hair all the time.

It just seems really, really out of character for her to be wearing her hair down and to be wearing that outfit.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a mature post!

I'm pretty sure I learned  back in, say, 4th grade, that beauty was subjective. Hell, just look at the people posting that they think Ash is hot versus thinking she is ugly.

I think her "new look" is demeaning to her character, because she's a very practical person with a lot of combat experience. Common sense dictates that having very long hair obstructing your vision in combat is a very stupid way to die (or just miss), and wearing a light combat armor (with no helmet, because really, who needs those as long as you can look pretty?) suit goes against things she said in ME1.

If you think that Ashley's new look is ugly, why don't you kick her out of the airlock in ME3. Image IPB
Thats what John Shepard plans to do to her in ME3 (she was he's LI, now he just wants rid of her).

I think that if ashely is going to wear her hair down and be wearing that outfit, Kaidan should be shirtless on the normandy working on some mechanical stuff every time I go to talk to him. Also he has to be wearing tight pants so i can check out his butt.

Because for starters it isn't comfortable for women to have their hair tied up in a bun all the time. No one does that.

I think getting shot because you can't see through your hair is a lot worse than the "uncomfortableness" of tying up your hair in combat.

Rly.

Come back to this thread when you get a GF and no longer need to ask how we know that Ashley doesn't wear her hair in a bun 24/7.

I agree that having her hair in a bun while in combat is more practical.

But those who are claiming that Ashley's hair being in a bun is somehow a reflection of her personality, and that her hair being down is somehow 'unrealistic,' are wrong.
