I've been trying to follow this guide to creating a custom heraldry, however I'm having trouble with the image I'm pasting. The guide says to paste the image on top of the original heraldry, but neither Paste In or Paste have different effects. I'm using Gimp, not Photoshop, but the programs are similar enough for DAO. I have the DDS plugin for gimp, so that shouldn't be my problem.

No matter how I fiddle with the transparency, or what colors I use for my custom image, it's always transparent when I view it in the toolset. Clearly I'm not doing something right in the transfer from copy to paste, so does anyone with gimp or toolset knowledge know what I'm doing wrong?

Your alpha channel is the source of the issue. The entire blue square (including the text) is presumably white in the alpha channel, which for heraldry amounts to 100% transparency (the opposite of normal).

What is it you are trying to do? Do you want to superimpose the blue box over the original background image, or just the text?
