Is it possible to get all the DLC for ME2 including the extra characters through origin or am i better off just buying the boxed version of the game ?

The boxed version comes with the cebrerus Network and nothing else so you'll have to buy and download DLC if you want to play it. Depending on your region the prices of BioWare points vary. Here's in the EU the price of BW points on Origin uses the dollar equals euro model while on the BioWare site they lowered the cost to match the original price.
