I would have to say either the Ancient Rock Wraith or The Harvester from Golems of Amgarrak (which I still have yet to defeat on Nightmare). Fighting Ser Cautherien in the room with all those archers chaining Scattershot can be a bit of a pain as well.

Cauthrien but she's optional and Corytheus because I activated the statues as fast as possible.  The Harvest in GoA too, my party seems to drop like a rock during the second phase.

DaO: The Harvester in GoA, brutal fight.

Da2: The Ancient Rock Wrath is tasty with Carver as a 2h weapon tank on higher difficulties :)

Haven't played Legacy, so I'll say the Rock Wraith. It ranges from annoyingly tough to very annoying and tough...

I still haven't beat Gaxkang.

I had no problem with the Arishok as a warrior or a rogue once I started using some of my other talents (like stealthing until my elfroot potions cool down. <_<) Although I think decoy broke him the time I used that.

I'm not looking forward to fighting him as a mage however.

I still maintain I beat Cauthrien, after all "am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them?"

...well I did beat her ... by running and hiding in a room, only about half a dozen men followed her. Unfortunatly my team wasn't so good at running and hiding so I was left with the prospect of running into that enemy horde alone. Into the foyer of death rode the grey warden... I talked her down when we met later. The adventure you have escaping the prison is more than worth it anyway.

Suprised no one said Malvernis. Maybe he wasn't as hard as I thought...

Equally surprised anyone mentioned bosses from DAO, that game was way too easy  in my opinion. (I had to solo it to pick up any real challenge, that or make no potions/mages runs)

I found DA:O harder than anything in DA2... maybe I'm just building better characters now. Then again I'm not playing on Nightmare.

He took me three tries - as many as any other boss in the series but I did beat him unlike Cauthrien and Gaxkang.

Cauthrien was a peace of cake as arcane warrior/bloodmage. But then again... Everything was.
Ancient Rockwraith? Realy? Never played WoW or something?

Also, am I the only one who found that random pack of wolves in DA:O to be the hardest encaunter in the first game? 20 wolves chaining owerhelm...

No.

I wouldn't call it the hardest but it was annoying sometimes.

Wait a minute, I forgot about the Arishok... that one was the hardest because if you make too many mistakes, it's pretty easy for him to kill you.

That can´t compare to the Nexus Golem room in DA2. A few demons, an Arcane Horror, a Revenant, and a dozen or so shades. I won´t try it again until just before the end of the act.

Oh yes, I forgot about this one.  This too is a hard battle.

That one's insanely difficult if you actually stay in the room, I stood in the doorway with my party in the corridor behind and it went a lot better.

Ser Cauthrien. That **** hits like a freight train.
Pre-nerf Ancient Rock Wraith. I played WoW for 6 years but you can't do anything when the boss basically one shots everyone.
The Reaver in Andraste's Ashes quest wasn't easy either.
Flemeth was tough.
High Dragon in Act3 DA2 (preferably pre-nerf) was challenging, you had to manage a lot of things.
Pre-patch fights in Anders' friend in Chantry quest and the one where you saved the Viscount's son. On hard difficulty, you needed to pause a lot to cope with marines falling from skies (without parachutes though)

Malvernis's 32 skeletal archers and Ancient Rock Wraith with no proper tank (though the latter was more bad judgement on my part than the fight actually being hard).

I would have to say probably Cauthrien with a very close second to Gaxkang especially If you are not prepped. The archdemon in retrospect quickly became one of the easiest boss fights and as for the Arishok my archer/assasin/shadow rogue just whooped him in Less than a minute flat WUSS ;-)

Cauthrien, Solo Loghain on anything other than warrior or mage with cone of cold (personally, and the Andraste High Dragon are ones that I just could not manage or had to change the difficulty to win.

Oh wait and that damn Carta Hideout fight with the traps and the Bronto in Legacy. Am I the only person in the world who cannot get past that on my mage? I lose so fast. I just can't manage to find out how to kill the bronto, archers, and the warrior dwarf whose name escapes me without my AI falling due to some incredibly ridiculous targeting. Plus I don't have Aveline, I have 2H tank Carver, which I'm guessing is my first mistake.

Hard or nightemere? First time i did Legacy on hard with Mage Havke, templar Carver, Anders and Merill. So three mages and a dps warrior. No problems. Second time Mage Havke, TCarver, Anders, Varic - even easier. If you have targeting problems with companions just try to make some tactics/do more micromanaging.
