Sandal says :

"One day the magic will come back. All of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide. When he rises, everyone will see."

This dialogue was triggered in Act 3 (though I think you can trigger it whenever you want.

What could this prophecy mean ? Is this the plot of DA3 ?
I do not know, serah.... :alien:

Or...Sandal could just be a drug-addled dwarf.

I hope this is so, it would be funny to have all the conspiracy theorists get let down.

Wh-what? I have never heard of this! Anyone else got this, and know exactly how to trigger it?

I don't think I've ever heard Sandal say that many different words in total...

An ominous moment if ever I've heard one.

He's always seen things that weren't there... or perhaps he sees the things that really are there:

And there's still "Not Enchantment"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QvE6iITFQk

I've heard a few different theories, personally I think he might be the first dwarven mage for umpteen thousand years - and he wasn't at all prepared for the dreams since none of his species had dreamt for countless generations. The experience would have unhinged him slightly...

Personally I think Sandal saying weird stuff is just the devs trolling us because they know we're such obsessives that we'll over-analyse everything in the game to find meaning in it. I bet they cackle evilly about it and steeple their hands.

It means when the old god baby rises magic will come back as it was before and everyone will see the truth of what actually happened to cause blights.

I think Sandal is the last of a really ancient dwarf civilization when dwarve were magic and immortal. My theory is everybody used to be , human , elves etc.. the fade and thedas were one and it was some kind of peaceful realm.
Some terrible events change that .(i would not be surprise if Flemeth has something to do with it , she often mention having regrets)
And those civilizations disapeared.

Now i can't say if the prophecy is a good one , may be some kind of apocalypse .

Old news is old. ;p

Sandal is effectively anything from one half of "the maker", to the worlds first/youngest/newest/oldest tranquil dwarven mage. Basically what he actually is, is a plot device the game designers and writers found funny ;p

As for the poster above's Flemeth theory, there is no way Flemeth is old enough to have seen the fade split from the world of man. In fact, she can be traced to a person who was born in the Age of Towers. Which was during the.. 3rd blight? I'll have to look it up. She might also be an Old god, but the regrets she speaks of are of lost daughters, acts she's committed over the years to keep herself protected, and the fact that she sent Morrigan away to give her a new ogb to occupy ;p

Were dwarves ever immortal and magical? I don't recall this. -.-

For Flemeth , we have tales about her. That's all.We truly know nothing about her.How old she is , what she is , what she wants.Even her daughter ,Morrigan doesn 't know much.

For the dwarve being immortal and magical it's only a theory , i have. (like all the rest ^^)

I don't think the prophecy is just for fun , because making someone who looks so dumb knowing more than we ever do is really a sweet irony .

True. I would love if they actually showed Sandal in combat in DAIII. That would be epic. Though I don't know if they'd be able to pull it off.

My thoughts regarding the prophecy: it synches up with comments made by both Morrigan and Flemeth regarding change. Something big is about to occur - something that will unlock the most powerful magics that existed in the DA universe, and there will be a full frontal assault to prevent this.

The mage/templar schism is the first sign of this conflict between magic and mundane - it's the first battle in a much larger war. Things will be on a proverbial snowball's path to an avalanche culminating in a moment when magic is about to reshape the world (maybe the return of an older pantheon).

Flemeth knows something is on the horizon and seeks to gain an edge- she has been "rescuing" heroes to better position them on a chessboard for the battle ahead.

Prophecies are fun. :D

Damn. That sounds about right. You work for Bioware or something? XD
Though all we know for sure is that if this prophecy is real, then the dissapearence of the Warden and Hawke are indeed connected, and will most likely play a role in the next game. Though it has infact been confirmed that neither Hawke nor the Warden will be the main character for DAIII. It hasn't been revealed whether or not they'll make a cameo.

But I swear to God, if they kill of my Warden I will be po. If they kill off Hawke, then I guess I can live with that. Out of all the Hawke's I've made I only have one who I don't wanna punch in the face. Damn, Hawke's annoying.... Done with ranting.

If there is a final grand apocalyptic battle, and the heroes are set to die, they should go out in a glorious fashion. It would seem fair.

And no, I don't work for Bioware. I'm just an old lady who talks too much. :D

Not sure if this needs a spoiler warning as the DLC is still newish:

What about the DLC guy, Corypheus?  He's a powerful mage who's apparently now loose in the world after being locked away for eons.

Or perhaps I'm taking the fact he 'rose' up out of the ground a little too literally ;-)

(oh ffs this forum is...sorry I couldn't make the text grey...)

I'm pretty sure this will be some obscure book/movie/television reference. It's an in-joke, not prophecy.

The only prophecy they have is that the next game will be set in Orlais.

Just keep clicking on him. His barks are random.

Bodahn's reaction has always been the best part. "Uh... enchantment!"  "That's my boy."

Yeah, I was thinking something like Harry Potter or Last Airbender or one of those types of kiddie films that have been coming out, but I'm not cool enough to actually know which it is.

"One day, the magic will come back" sounds really familiar for some reason, so maybe it's something more classic...

I'm gonna side with Gamer Ftw on this and say that this is probably about Morrigan and the Warden's son. After all, what could have more magic in it than a child with the spirit of an old god and possibly the blood of whatever Flemeth is (if Morrigan is acctually Flemeth's biological daughter) in it.  I think that sound like a good recipie for a magical messiah, don't you?

The Magic Comes back is a fairly common trope.

But it does seem to be occuring in Thedas to some extent, doesn't it? Dragons were hunted into extinction and are now popping up everywhere. And the Talkative Man suggests that there seems to be a lot more mages around than when he was younger.

I think it has something to do with the Maker, but not with a holy war.

I'm talking about the specific phrase. Actually, everything up to "The shadows will part" junk sounds eerily familiar (that just sounds like generic nonsense, although I'm sure it's faithful to the quote). It's the "When he rises" bit where they totally lose me.

No, the magic never went anywhere.

The Talkative Man also says that gameplay mechanics have been streamlined and that the writers made him look like a troll. And The Truth Is Out There. Personally, I take "lyrium in the water" to be something like fluoride in the water or some nonsense about causes of autism or something (the writer will have been making fun of some common real-world saying of something happening to people because of something they put in the water).

Are you one of them?

I think the Talkative Man was the tear in the Veil...I mean, the crack in the 4th wall.

One interesting bit about Sandal's prophecy, be it a joke or not, is that it seems to contradict or be distinct from one of the prophecies of Eleni Zinovia:

"The prison is breached. I see the encroaching darkness. The... the shadow will consume all..."

Looking back at Witch Hunt now, and the above quote, I wonder if the first part is foreshadowing for Legacy. As for the darkness and shadows, maybe that's a hint regarding war. A war comes, the shadows engulf the world, and then perhaps Sandal's prophecy steps in - the shadows will part, war (between magic and mundane) will end, and the skies will open wide because the world has once again embraced true magic. Or tapped into the oldest magic.

Or the Fade melds with the living world.
