Maybe this flew over my head, but was that dialogue to let the player know that the crew WATCHED Shepard and Miranda while they were in the engine room or was it something else?

And if there's another thread that sorts this all out, just link me to it.

Considering that most of the rooms on the Normandy have a window overlooking the engine room........ yea that's exactly what happened.

Miranda is one naughty dame.

Well obviously the first thing Tali did when Miranda ordered her out of the engine room was to run to Kasumi to tell her the juicy update. Kasumi then did some quick theif work, set up some cameras, and collected all her buddies so they could watch from her omnitool. Tali, kasumi, and Kelly giggled like little school girls while the guys cheered shepard on.

The first time I played the game, I didn't get the sense that she was so "cold" as some of the crew members described her (noticeably Samara and Liara). She just seemed lonely and despite being the galaxy's perfect woman, she was happy for attention, especially from some1 on her level. But the engine room thing seemed way out of place. But eh, I'm not a storyteller.

To me, the engine room is Miri's way of saying "I win".  I doubt she's even done it conciously, she's got a ****y streak a mile wide, but the need to do this is probably coming from her deeply buried insecurities.   Who are the other two potential LIs for Shep?  Yeah, one has her bolthole underneath Engineering, and the other one damn near lives down there.

Yeah...that's why Miranda prefers the engine room even if you don't recruit Tali :?

It was probably because no other room in the Normandy can hold Miranda's breasts, but I thought it was a interesting contrast. Miranda is, or we're told she is, perfect. The Engine Room, however, is the less perfect place to have sex - it's dirty, messy, probably noisy because of the reactors and people are probably looking.

Or whatever.

On a ship packed with listening devices and camera's, it really doesn't matter where you have sex, someone is seeing it.

Miranda isn't quite as smart as she thinks she is.

I mean, lets face it. Jacob's room, Thane's room, and Mordin's office all overlook the engine room. Miranda just wanted everyone to see dat ass.

Joker was a major perv in ME1.
ME2 is even worst, EDI is always watching.

Shepard's quarters are definitely under surveillance.
Why do you think you can't reply to email? EDI/TIM wont let you.

It's funny, because Shepard and Miranda are the only two people with rooms with beds. Yet they still declined to use either of them.

someone somewhere else mentioned that that little raling nook is the only one without surveillance bugs. well that and Mordin's lab, but I doubt Miranda would be able to "clear" that. its why Tali almost always takes Shepard there to talk, instead of staying at her console. and Miranda I assume would know about that little piece of information.
