Hi,
I'm playing with Merill in my party, and I am having a hard time getting her to hold still. When we engage in combat, she runs WAY far ahead, aggroing other enemies, and keeps running. I have yet to let her finish her journey to see where she is going, I take manual control and get her back, trailing the extra enemies that she's picked up. For instance, I just came to Hightown at night, by the north entrance, when we engaged the secret sisters in that same northern section, she ran all the way to the viscount's keep. The whole while she is trying to cast Tempest, which I have set to cast whenever she's surrounded by two or more enemies. I don't know what is causing this, and I can't find another thread dealing with the issue, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Are you sure that's what you have it set for, because companions will run away from you to use talents on groups, your not actively engaging because of tactics like "Use X when enemies three enemies are clustered" They wont run away though if you have it set for her to use it when she is surrounded.

Definitely when she is surrounded, just did it again a bit ago as I continued to engage more of the secret sisters, she managed to grab up the denerim avengers and bring those back with her this time. I'll keep messing with her tactics and see if that helps, this is my 5th play through and I've never encountered this before. i'm a bit puzzled.
