I swear they could be cousins, I fell in love with Varric as a character so witty so suave with the women, He reminds me sooo Much of Tyrion Lannister from Song of ice and fire (game of thrones), they both really have ****e family members :)  GG bioware and George R.R. Martin for making Dwarves so dang appealing :P

Any knowledge I possess of Tyrion Lannister is based on the book, and I'm only halfway through the first one, but... yeah, I see the similarities, but Varric comes across as much more genial than Tyrion. Tyrion is much more of an unknown.. what side he's on, whether he's sincere, or mocking, and it's usually the latter.

I really don't see much of a resemblance. Tyrion has SO many more family issues; Bartrand's betrayal is nothing compared to what Tyrion has to deal with from his father, sister, and even the brother who he thought was his friend. Add to that guilt over thinking he caused his mother's death with his birth, and feeling like a freak in a society that isn't kind to little people...yeah, dwarves in this game are nothing like what Tyrion and the others like him have to deal with in ASoIaF.

*ponders*

Nah. There is also the difference that Varric wouldn't have the whole world laughing at him as dwarves are an actual race in Thedas.

I wouldn't say being left for dead in a underground road full of monster and darkspawn nothing. But I agree that Tyrion issues are bigger... especially because while being a Dwarf in DA is normal, in ASoIaF is not.
.
But they do have some things in common, for once, both are killers with a Crossbow... I wonder what name Tyrion would give to his... maybe Tysha?
