I wasn't aware of it until long after it had already ended, but Millennium was a pretty good show that got axed too soon.

I know the writer who wrote the Xmas episode...Midnight of the Century.

That was a GREAT show during Season One and Two...I think while Season 3 was good, the qualiy fell.

Also...ever notice you haven't seen anymore shows from the creator of The X-Files and Millennium?

Turns out he is a hack and a one note wonder...most of everyone under him became more successful.

I don't remember that episode but plan to re-watch the series soon, I'll take note.  Image IPB

I don't know anything about Chris Carter, spouse says he got a bad reputation in Hollywood for stealing ideas or something.  Can't say, but he sure gave us two great shows and wrote a lot of the episodes himself- even if you only ever did that for X Files, that's quite an accomplishment.  I also liked the concept of Harsh Realm though the series was lackluster, and The Lone Gunmen was disappointing too.

*snip*Farscape

When the brought in the old woman, the screeching chick, and the two chicken/monkey... things.... in the "diner," (even though the chickens were just one episode) Farscape lost whatever love or protection it had.

B5, while tecnically cancelled, was resurrected and finished out.  Now, *Crusade* I'd like to see resurrected, provided JMS has complete control.

My Name is Earl. It ended on such an annoying cliffhanger too.

Joan of Arcadia... That show was so good.

I have no idea why great writers just don't decide to translate their work in another medium when it is canceled in another!?! In season 3 or 2.She had just encountered Evil and it looked as though the series was going to really up the level of thought debate insight and discussion to an u uncharted region for Network Television.

And then it just got cancelled...<_<

Arrested Development.

The worst part of that show's cancellation is... I can see why it was cancelled. Don't get me wrong, I love the show, and it's my favourite comedy of all time (as well as in the top three of my favourite television shows, period), but it was incredibly self-referential. Which is fine if you're on HBO, for example, but for a comedy on a major network, it's difficult to do well when a lot of the humour requires you to have watched the previous episodes.

Still. A tragic loss of a fantastic show.

I loved this show, but it got really, really bad towards the end. I'd like to know what happened after the final slide, but I don't think I could of handeled another season.

This.

Also Angel. Buffy definitely lived a full life, but Angel got the axe way too soon. And unlike Arrested Development, I can't see why it was cancelled.

And, the dramady Gravety, which ran on Starz, and its less dramatic cousin Party Down (which starred Jane Lynch in its first season). I loved those shows.

Yeah I miss that one too.

Fox does seem to have a large number of shows that require watching all episodes to really get them for Network TV.

As to the cancellalation, I'm wondering if it was just too expensive to keep going while not bringing in enough viewers...If you look at the Cast it was huge and full of a lot of folks who probably had to be pretty well paid unless they were in it for the sake of the project...as a former Actor I can tell you that there are some times when you will do ANYTHING to work on a project or play a particular Role.

Also, bonus answer - Veronica Mars. Though it never recaptured the magic of the first season, and season three was a bit of a jumbled mess. Still had some great moments, but you could tell they knew they were not long for this world. As I understand it, they finished dead last in the ratings for their timeslot twice in a row, so I have to give the network credit for letting it survive as long as it did.

I can only hope I won't have to add Fringe to this list, though FOX seems to be pretty intent on keeping it around as their 'WE LIKE GOOD TV TOO, GUYS' show.

Sure it wasn't exactly true to WoD but it had potential to be something fantastic and awesome.

I was so sad when I heard the lead actor died after they'd been in talks to renew the show.  It was one of the few shows, I as a teenager, would watch with my parents.  The other being Buffy.  :)

As for other shows I'm sorry they cancelled

Firefly, Angel, and Dollhouse
Lie to Me
Pushing Daisies
Dead like Me
Eastwick
The Gates
No Ordinary Family

It seems like they ax shows so much faster now-a-days.  Less then one season and you're done if you don't get the right numbers!  No time to build a fanbase.  No time to build word of mouth advertising.  It's sad.

To be honest...I won't watch anything on Fox that has a continuing Storyline until it's completed and I can watch it on DVD...

I got burned by them one too many times during the '90s when they were cancelling shows after 3 or 4 episodes, which is never enough time to gain full momentum.

Other shows that I watched that teed me off because they were cancelled without resolution: FlashForward (so much bad acting to sit through only to find out I'll never know what happened) & The 4400.

If you're going to produce shows that have those kind of Episodic story-lines then at least have the wrap-up in the can to allow fans to feel closure!

Wonderfalls - Fox didn't even give it one season! They aired 4 episodes, in two timeslots, out of order with what might as well have been no advertisement! Word of mouth was good enough that the repeats did better than the first airings of episodes. At least the fan uproar got the 1st seasons full 13 episodes released to DVD!

I thought Arrested Development was getting a little stale in the last season. It was cancelled a bit early, but I think it would ended after another year or two or jumped the shark. I think shifting time slots really hurt it as well as it's self referential nature.

I thought Angel ended a season too late really, once they joined Wolfram and Hart the show lost its way.

Crusade was an interesting show, I'm a B5 fan, and what I saw wasn't bad (though it wasn't as good as B5). However if the stories of fighting between the Network and JMS are true it's a good thing that show ended. There are rumors that JMS tried to sabotage the show after the Network made its changes and told his fans not to watch.

My friend thinks it may have jumped the shark, but I still enjoy Fringe - I'd be rather disappointed if it were canceled. It has been renewed for next season I believe, so at least there's one more year for sure. Apparently the ratings were quite good, considering it's been on Fridays. http://insidetv.ew.c...-fourth-season/

The cartoon episode was trippy.  Had a bit of a, "A Scanner Darkly," feel to it.  It worked for the subject matter of the episode, but I thought it was a little over the top for the tone of the series as a whole.

@Lord Phoebus: It was certainly trippy - I found it was an interesting approach, personally, but what I think was getting on my friend's nerves was the increasing significance of the Olvia-Peter relationship.
