Thanks for the advice, I'll just go back to playing as an Adept or Vanguard, MUCH more fun.adonfraz wrote...
No, at the end of the day we all play video games for fun/entertainment. If you're not having fun then you should just stop.

No problem, biotics never get boring to me either.

At least the soldier will be cooler in ME3, I also heard that in ME3, your concussive shot takes on your current ammo power which should be freakin awesome.

Yup, that's exactly what I was thinking when I finished Mordin's recruitment mission, "Why do people like this class???" Maybe you're right and people find the soldier the easiest to understand... Haven't yet played as an Infiltrator so I can't say how fun it is. But after playing Adept, Sentinel, and Vanguard soldier is just, blargh...Onpoint17 wrote...
I'm surprised that the soldier is one of the most popular classes in Mass Effect. I guess that's because many play shooters and its the easiest character to play and understand. But I'm in agreement that the class is boring. Soldier needs more gadgets or something that can be used unread of a firearm. I like aggressive combat and gun play which is why I play the Infiltrator like a soldier with special gadgets and tech. Fire first and use tech as a finishing move. I'm using the Engineer and the Adept the same way. The key I've found to playing these classes "soldier-like" is the use of the Geth Shield boost for tech classes and barrier for the Adept. They can stay out of cover longer and fight like a soldier or trained marine which Shepard is.

On Insanity? It's kind of hard to rush people when your shields get shredded one second out of cover. I sometimes rush a group of enemies with my shotgun and AR but it doesn't work out quite as well as I would hope... So maybe you could give me tips on how to rush them correctly?ScroguBlitzen wrote...
Maybe your technique is just boring. Try charging enemies and beating them down with Adrenaline Rushed melee strikes. Much more exciting.

If you like, I could try to give some tips also. To charge in close you first need Hardened AR and not be bothered by the red and the distracting sounds.
You will need Inferno and Squad Cryo also. And I've been preferring Commando for Insanity. I don't bother with Disruptor or Concussive Shot, and depending on if you RP or not, a biotic BP like Slam, Stasis or even Reave have been interesting, to mix things up.
I've also used a one point Flashbang Grenade for Harby mostly to great effect.
For melee, the Claymore or Eviscerator can do some nice damage, between elbows, and I've also used the Scimitar and Katana for their faster ROF.
And with Hardened AR you can also use the power to get out of sticky situations if you get too aggressive.
And the Revenant can be fun getting up close, since it has so many shots available.
The other style I like with the Soldier is to maximize each shot with Heightened and picking up the Widow, so again I'm going with Commando, Inferno and Squad Cryo.
Any other points can go where ever you like.
And for the modular body armor, improving your melee damage is nice and with Commando you get a high boost with Storm Speed, which is gonna be important.
So Stimulator Conduits, Kestrel Arm Sheathing, Strength Boost Pads and Kestrel Torso Sheath, work nicely.
And if you still don't like playing the Soldier go ahead and switch. I've had fun loads of fun with the Sentinel and Vanguard myself

This is a vid I recently made where my shotgun-heavy soldier does the first part of Horizon ( insanity, xbox ) using only shotgun and melee ( and ARush ). You have to use cover to get close, sometimes using an ARush to get to the next closer cover. And as you mention, you have to get back into cover after a kill because you don't get a shield recharge like you do with vanguard charge.
< Edit : looks best at 720P >

Looks interesting! I'll try this once I'm done with my Adept playthrough. Also I noticed you were using the Eviscerator. I have all DLC weapons bar the Locust and was wondering whether to use the Geth Plasma Shotgun or the Eviscerator.
P.s. Why does time slow sometimes even when AR is not active? i.e. When Miranda was talking when you engaged in your first battle? This happens to me too, although I'm on the PC not xbox 360. Also your aim is good xD My aim sucks as it's been a while since I played a shooter on PC. Lol

Yeah, pretty much. I guess it's like a manually activated slow and plodding Vanguard Charge.
Since the Soldier class is the most muscle augmented of the classes, that shows up with the higher health and storm speed boost. Going Commando and the Stimulator Conduits provides a 60% boost, which is nice.

Thanks. There is a thread still open about Evi vs Geth Shotgun. Lots of advice there. Evi is better at ammo effect processing ( eight pellets vs three ), but Geth has better range and if you charge it has better damage ( uses two "bullets" per charged shot ). I use Evi because I've been taking Claymore on Collector ship and the playstyle is similar.
I don't know if you have seen how the protections work, but shotguns are the best weapons for getting ammo effects because they treat each pellet that hits as a separate event. This is why even if you break thru a shielded enemy with a sniper rifle ( with incendary ammo ) it does not set him on fire if he still has health, where with a shotgun that breaks thru he does catch on fire.

60% storm speed with Adrenaline Rush? Yes please! Ok maybe I should give Soldier another try. :happy:Praetor Shepard wrote...

I'm rather clumsy with the 360 controller and the aim-assist stuff, but it's fun to use once you know what you can do with Storming and Hardened AR.

I'm the complete opposite xD I'm pretty good with the 360 controller but terrible with mouse and keyboard. I don't want to get Me2 for Xbox 360 though because then I wouldn't be able to download Me1 save files to import! Lol, also would you reccomend Hardened or Heightened AR?Praetor Shepard wrote...
