The Vanguard will probably be Jack or someone new along with Miranda or some new sentinel
So, who's the vanguard?

Jacob is not Vanguard. He's actually Sentinel, by lore.
His power set is not lore; that's a game play mechanic. He was a sentinel but is now a vanguard. I'd bet his ME2 vanguard power set will carry over into ME3.
Mass Effect Galaxy.
And he didn't had any tech power do to Miranda and Bioware's decision for squadmates to have only 2-3 powers.
Now in ME3, there's no excuse for him not to have Tech powers.

Dunno about Vanguard, but new female will most likely be Sentinel (in case Ash is the VS)

The DLC character is an adept but I think He is going to have high biotics/health and since you can give squadmates any type of gun you want you can give him a shotgun. There's your vanguard.

There is going to be no sentinel besides kaiden. Good thing I saved him. It makes sense not to have a sentinel because in mass effect you lose a class that you pick. If you picked no sentinel in me1 then you wont get a sentinel in me3

Jack is a vanguard not an adept. And I read more than once here that Jack, Thane and Jacob (the vanguards) sucked, I don't agree though.

Well, I'll be the Vanguard for sure.
I guess Prothy will be that this time. I can't see any other way around it.
