Okay, this gate is rated "M". That means "Mature". Which means that this game IS NOT meant for children, it's for us grown-ups. That's why the retailers will only sell it to grown-ups.

And, naturally, most of us grown-ups have had some degree of intimate experiences in real life, so what could possibly wrong with seeing some nice love scenes in a video game? It's nothing new or strange to us.

I don't mean like hardcore pr0no crap... I mean like just, nice, emotional, passionate scenes that really emphasis on the relationship that Hawke has developed with their LI. Maybe something like they did in ME1? That was absolutely wonderful. (Liara 4eva.)

Please, Bioware, do not let stupid imbecilic hypocritical twits get you down. DO NOT listen to them. Life is full of criticism - heck, if someone from WBC were to meet me, they would noose me. Seriously. But since I am atheist I couldn't care less about those crapwits and the dumb uneducated opinions they fart out.

The sex wouldn't have to be dirty or hardcore. But I believe just some physical intimacy would have, like I said, helped emphasize the relationship that has developed between the two. Maybe next game try doing what you did in ME1? That would be so perfect.

I dunno that BW wants that kind of negative publicity again - no matter how many other games have worse sex scenes, and no matter who it was that brought the negative spotlight upon them.

No thank you, it's fine how it is.

Prefer tender, romantic love scenes to carnal naked flesh porn. No thank.

But somehow, people can't even talk about sex and maturity in games without being puerile and all the snickering.

My hero. The voice of reason.
Sorry OP, but we are not mature enough on this forum to discuss it peacefully without going where it shouldn't go.

Ya it will most likely be locked.

@furryrage59
That's a bit of an overstatement. You can see more explicit scenes in The Notebook. And that film is known as one of the most tender, and romantic films of all time.

I much preferred DA2's approach to the awkward "I'm not really sure if I want to be seeing this" love scenes in Origins (possibly just because the animation was a lot smoother, but still). Nudity wouldn't exactly bother me, but DA2 did them very tastefully IMO.

I don't have a problem with the way ME1 did it, but I don't have a problem with the way DA2 did it either. I don't need the game to throw nudity in there for the sake of it to remind me it's supposed to be mature. I defer to the judgment of the devs regarding which style of scene, or anywhere in between, they wish to implement.

It's anything but that. Look at Isabella, Morrigan, Zevran or Silk Fox... I don't feel it's anything like that.

I also think it's fine a for a game to show nudity. It's not porn, seriously porn deliberately tries to arouse a sex scene in a game does not. It's character building.

maybe just go for tastefulness by the character your romancing, such as being rough and more skin shown with Isabela where with Merrill it would be cuddling, romantic, sensual

I suppose Shepard developed pretty much the same relationship with all the LI's then. There was only one love scene in ME1 and it played for Liara, Ashley and Kaidan. DA2 has longer and individual scenes of the lead up. I say lead up because in both these games they cut before they begin. If there's an outlier it's DA:O that showed the characters having sex (with clothes). In that game too material was reused across the board.

All in all I'd say DA2 is the best out of the three in this area but that's a result of more work beeing put into it and not a question of me fundamentally prefering not to see them out of their clothes (ME1) or having sex (DA:O). In fact I think I can safely say I prefer seeing them out of their clothes atleast. However longer and individual scenes are more important to me.

I personally just don't see the need for full nudity in a game that WILL be played by young uns to have nudity. You can have high quality romance scenes partially clothed and it's fine IF done well. I found the love scene in DA:O was perfect, lovingly caress each other, eye contact, sensual emotion and you never actually see them having sex or completely naked, just building up to it.

It can be far sexier to do a love scene with bare essentials on than having nudes for the sake of it. In a computer game it just isn't needed and doesn't add anything other than trying to give someone a hard on because they saw a ladies naughty place, which would certainly appeal to the young uns (based upon coments of younger people i know who have played DA:O-ME etc).

So it is perfectly ok for young folks to watch violence, massive amount of blood etc... but not nudity ?
Besides, this is M rated game - so those older than 17 should have enough knowledge already to handle some nudity and those below ... well they shouldn't be playing this game - if they do then it is their parents problem not mine.

Exploited sexuality in love scenes? Sounds like "hardcore p0rno crap" to me.
Why do you need graphic sexuality in the game? The scenes are well made, implying but not showing anything, using the good old system of fading out.
In case you've missed it, it's not a porn game. (If there's any. But I'm sure there is.) If you want graphically exploited sexual scenes, do get one!
This game is mature because of its theme. Not because boobies.
On the other hand, tasteful scenes like in ME1 are ok. But anything more is...
I don't get why people are so starved for sex scenes. Come on, get a girl or something.

Well then, lets cut all the combat and fighting from the game.
Unless you  feel the constant urge for killing, do you ? Come on, go out and kill some bugs, ants or something.

Nope. All your fault. Image IPB

That is the trouble with today's world, the parents blame anyone and anything except themselves.

On topic:

I thought Anders scene was romantic and sweet. I prefer romantic over just smex...but that's just me.

I have no problem with the way they present the romances in DA2, however, in some respects I do have to agree with the OP. I don't necessarily need all out nude sex romp, but I find I lose immersion when they go so far in the other direction. For example, why is Hawke naked in bed but Fenris is fully clothed during their post sex conversation? Couldn't Fenris at least be getting dressed rather than already in his armor? And the Anders love scene, would he really have all that hairy shouldered heavy robe on when making out in the bed? To me that's going a bit too far in the "safe" zone. It's similar to how Morrigan had a "barely there" robe with a string between her breasts in DA:O, but for some reason throws on granny panties and an oversized bra before having sex.

I don't need to see absolutely naked naughty bits. But I do want to feel like it's at least semi-realistic. I mean, we're not even getting PG-13 here.

Aside: I think the Kaidan romance from ME is about the hottest game romance I've yet seen, and not for the flesh. They kept it real, and sexy.

I thought DA2 got it right. Anders anyway, it was riomantic and sweet, but not uncomfortable. I loved it.

thats the thing tho in the uk you have to be 18 to play this game not exactly a young un seeing as by this age theres pretty much nothing they cant see or do

yes me1 was controversial (in the US atleast) but things have moved on since then any way, look at Heavy Rain that has alot of nudity in it and that was a flagship game for the ps3.

im not saying u need graphic scenes but something along the lines of me1 scenes would be nice

I agree with you, it is a mature game but unfortunately it will get played by loads of young ones, parents will see and then scream omg nudness etc.

If it is tasteful, romantic and not just nakedness for the sake of nakedness i might ni mind so much but i just have never felt the nude to see nudity in a computer game. When i ws younger i thought it was awesome but since girlfriends and lots of boobies, it detracts from my relaxation fo a game. (hope that makes sense).

I don't want to be getting a woody over a computer game^_^

^ I think that your right the key is to keep it tasteful and use it in a way that benefits the game rather then as a method of getting cheap thrills from people that might not know better.

So you would have a problem with your children seeing a naked girl butt or boobs, but having them watching a series of beheding, impaling, maiming, and other bloody carnage is completely fine? I think any of those mention, easily beat any kind of "classic" porn.

I am not saying they should make a hardcore sex scenes there - but obviously, the underwear should be off, even if it would be just something more sensual and romatic.

And i don`t care if FOX or some other fools start crying that BW is making porn. Infamity is just another kind of fame, and if anything more people will buy this game because of it - and then what's it to you? Just more money for BW and thus more money (and better) continuation of DA series.

Besides this, if i am not mistaken computer games where already elevated to the status of "Art", meaning that if they consider that bioware would made a sexual act as it actually should be, then also things like from Michelangelo (who often made naked statues) is also porn?

I prefer the individualized romance scenes over the scenes in dao were I did felt akward watching them, but I definitly wouldn't mind if the scenes cut to black a little later and showed a little more skin.

I agree with OP. WHile DAO was perfect. DA2 was just plain stupid. and enough with all this BS of nudity and kids playing. LIke others have said, all the gore and violence and language seem to be ok, but any nudity and the sky is falling. BS. Its either all ok or none of it is. Oh and Hawat333 its rated M for violence, blood, language and sexual content. Ironically DAo was rated M for same reasons and for partial nudity, even though there really isnt cept for maybe the desire demon and lady of the forest.

Vareity is cool, but the protagonist in a hugh hefner robe, with just a little kissing on the bed then fade to black is just ****** poor IMO.
