Hi everyone.
I'm new to Mass Effect. Just starting playing the first one, and I've been trying to fnd out
what I must do to get each ending.

I most want to get he paragon ending. So before I get too far into the game, can anyone tell me
what the requirements are?

And for that matter, how many endings are there, and which one is the best one?

I'd really appreciate any help in this that I can get.

I thought there was only the 'You defeat Saren' ending. But to get the paragon ending, just be a nice guy [or girl] to those who you meet.

Most choices that affect the ending are really near the end anyway, so you can just play and choose the paragon option ehwn you get there.

If your first play through then it could take you another play through to get your paragon stat up. There are ways around this however. 1. Put points into your charm but remember that your charm will go up anyway even if you dont put points into it thats why you will need about two play throughs. 2. You can just use a glitch on Noveria(its on ME wiki) this will fill up your charm in one play through. There is another glitch for reaching level 60 in one play through as well when picking up Liara (on ME wiki).

Watch out what you do in the end of ME1. (without spoiling anything)If you try to favor human interest at the end then that could start a war with the other races against humanity in ME3(that is what it looks like).

(Might be spoilers for you) The requirements to get paragon in the end come at a point when you have to chose between saving the council/let them die/or save the human fleet for last. The nutrual one is to save the human fleet for last. The renegade ending is to Let them die. The paragon ending is to save them.

By saving the council you will earn the respect of the other races and will make it easier to to deal with them in ME3 because of what you did for them(not just the council).

Paragon Ending with Living Council: Have your paragon bar higher than your renegade bar, save the Council.

Paragon Ending with Dead Council: Have your paragon bar higher than your renegade bar, sacrifice the Council.

Renegade Ending with Living Council: Have your renegade bar higher than your paragon bar, save the Council.

Renegade Ending with Dead Council: Have your renegade bar higher than your paragon bar, sacrifice the Council.


Which is best is open to interpretation.

Avoid places like Vrmire and Feros early on the game unless you've got high paragon.It's hard to get the game down on your first playthrough. I would play through the game normally and be as nice as possible, and put as many points into charm, and then do a New Game + so that all charm conversations are doable right off the bat.

Anyway, there are technically 4 endings. They are very similar, and have very little effect either way on ME2. So there's really no "best" one other then what you like the most. Which one you get depends on the main choice you make at the end, and which side of the bar you have the most points on.

Paragon/Council Saved - "shining example of humanity"
Paragon/Council Dies - Humans initiate a new council of all races
Renegade/Council Saved - "we admire your badass git 'er done stuff"
Renegade/Council Dies - Humans take over.
