I dunno how they intend to deal with that garbage. I hope they start making a lot more arrests though.

Where are you?? Grab some food an water, warm clothes and run, if you have to then look in litres shops forfood and drinks and wear warm clothes! I was in birmingham citycentre last night, it was just me andmy sister and we stayed away from crowds, always on the move, be prepared to stay up all night, I got home at 2 this morning since 12 yesterday. Hide your phone, I got mine pickpocketed when I tried to push through some rioters.

On the news here the PSNI apparently offered to loan them some reinforced land rovers and water cannons but can't spare any personnel with the upcoming riots here. The footage I've seen just involves police in riot gear chasing people, they need to start beating the living sh*t out of anyone they catch. Theres no deterrent at all at the minute.

On a side note it may have kicked off here too, I just heard what sounded like gunshots. But to be honest thats not particularly unsusual.

Also watch out for projectiles, a glass bottle was smashed on the back of my head. Stay warm, hydrated a full, don't be afraid to look in looted shops for food. Me and my sister were ok after lookin Boots for food and drinks just to help us get through last night. also have a weapon! Ivor threatened so many times and got shoved or shoulder barged.

I live above a pub in Rochdale, just outside of Manchester, run by my big brother - is thankfully quiet here but his nightclub in Burnley is on alert - has been named as a target.
The guys up there have stashed everything they can in the cellar and are barricaded in upstairs - ready to escape across the flatroof and down the fire escape if necessary.
Is very tense waiting to hear - apparently the macdonalds up the road has been torched and the nce guy who works there has been stabbed.
The guys are all huddled together upstairs waitng to get out I've just heard although the yobs don't seem to have reached them yet - so very not good.

London seems to be better tonight, the police are out in riot gear and in force so it's much better than last night.

Nottingham and Leicester are also having violent activity tonight, from what I've seen.

I don't want to derail this into a Politcical discussion and get it locked, but I just read an article stating that your PM was on vacation in Tuscany and wasn't originally going to come back to head the efforts to stop the rioting...is that true?

Also, it's very difficult to get good coverage of anything that happens outside the U.S. over here...is some Group organizing these riots or are the Mobs simply forming?

I really hope everyone is able to stay safe!

Both it seems. Apparantly they've (whoever they are) have released flyers teaching the looters how to avoid police. Most of it spreading though seems to be down to simple copycats.

What is the end game here? Will things get better or worse if the police begin to escalate the situation by using violence? Should they just get out the tear gas and club everybody who opposes them? Then what? Throw thousands of people into prisons are are already overcrowded?

This sort of thing is a good reminder of how utterly primative us human beings really are as a species.

Thanks for that Link...I just watched a story on one of our Major Networks Evening broadcasts and the entire situation got around 45 seconds of air-time.

It's truely embarassing to see how myopic we are over here sometimes!

The only other Alternitives you have are, just let them do it however long they want, which in fact may be forever, or least a couple of years, or they may stop the next day. But if so it shows them police response and rule of law is worthless.

Or you can just shoot them, worked pretty well in the not so distant past. No modern Western nation would do that one however unless directly threatend.

And given middle class areas and teens are in on this it has very little to do with wealth or such, though the UK's tax rates are enough to drive anyone to set things on fire. And violence has been with Humanity from the start, always will be. Man is in conflict from within, its no surprise he is from without.

Bazedragon...
I was able to get the Text and timelines of what's been happening but no video, which is fine with me...I really don't need to see mobs of people acting like animals!

The VERY short report I saw over here on one of our Networks did say that the Police have stated they are going to "draw the line" tonight...I'm really hoping that has some effect and it is able to keep innocent people safe!

You're not missing much, lacking video.
Mostly just repeating images and interviews with eyewitnesses.

Yeah I've looked around various sites not much is coming out on this given the rioters beat the **** out of any reporter they see.

All quiet at the club in Burnley so far thankfully.

We're on edge even more here at home since the pub manager came upstairs in a panic 15 mins ago telling us he's closing the pub because there's a gang of lads over the road - who were immediately chased away in the opposite direction by the police. And haven't been seen since - nor has there been any trouble in town as far as we can tell (We are pretty much right at the end of the high street, like 2 minutes walk away from the shopping centre, such as it is)

The problem now seems to be that everyone is so on-edge they're jumping at shadows.
My stomach is not happy.

Not wanting to sound like a dick, especially since in my youth I lived through war way worse than this rioting. But is this really a surprise? These thugs are just unsophisticaded version of thugs that got bailed out back in 2008. After profiting for decades running what turned out to be a scam, they still got away and got rewarded at everybody else's expense. Now their unskilled, not well connected brethren want to see if they can get away with it to.
