Is BDtS considered canon? Besides that, my only concern is what are they going to do for people that didn't get BDtS or have a PS3. Only options I see are a DLC that lets you play the level(s) on ME3 as a flashback, or make it so the dialog changes if you didn't get it(i.e. Balak and Shepard don't meet each other, Balak completes his plan, Shepard encounters Balak during ME3 with no previous interaction with each other). But I'm sure any way Bioware does it, it will turn out well.

BDTS is referenced in a ME2 news report, so yeah it's canon. If someone didn't play it in ME1 then the game just gives the renegade news report about there being a memorial for the hostages killed.

Mandatory.

Already dealt with in my first few posts on this thread. Not mandatory, unnecessary.

Look we all know how Balak is going to pan out, he's either going to be in some dead end dive, completely ruined because of Shepard's actions (I like to call it getting Fist'ed) or he's going to be working with Conrad Verner to ease the suffering of victims of Batarian attacks (getting Blake'd). It's Mass Effect and letting a serial criminal go free is never, ever a bad idea.

I personally would like to see Balak get Fist'ed. Because...

Well, you know.

Because when criminals escape, it is 100% impossible for them to ever get caught again.

The galaxy is a big place. What are the odds after two years Shepard will run into Balak again?

OP didn't want Balak simply caught, he wanted to do the catching. Even though he already had the opportunity and declined. It's unlikely that Balak will come back to life if a Renegade killed him, so I don't see why a Paragon should get a do-over.

What are the odds that Shepard runs into most people he already did? Pretty damn good, it seems.

In that case, sounds good. I still wouldn't mind some sort of flashback dlc, but thats just me being greedy because PS3 gets all the ME2 story DLC but Arrival.

Or we can just assume that law enforcement (or bounty hunters like Zaeed) is at least halfway competent in this universe and that anything else he tries will be sniffed out before he has a chance to execute it?

It's not like he's a low profile criminal that likes to pull random humans in to back alleys and shank them. There is a distinct flair and substance to his behavior.

Indeed I do, but let's keep it to fanfiction, don't need to give Fox a real reason to jump down ME's throat.

we ran in to everyone from the previous game, helena blake, nasana dantius, fist, the reporter, noveria girl, conrad verner, zhu's hope asari..... there is no reason why we won't/shouldn't see balak again or why he wouldn't seek us out after the 300k dead bataraians

everything is connected in this game.. it is a small world.

the "crying" asari who refuses to get the zhu's hope colonist out of the contract had 2 daughters.. one was the greeter at the consorts on the citadel, the other worked the desk atthe embassy ward... yep

You're right, that was profoundly poor reasoning on my part. Or profoundly poor writing on Bioware's. I'll only agree to both.

also the whole irony of us tossing an asteroid to kill a bunch of batarians, when he was doing the same to humans.. although we had different ends, would make for a good conversation

I bet Balak is the black sheep of the exclusive "Planetary genocide by rock" club.. he's at best the bartender at their club house.

P.S Led Zeppelin is post mortem honorary members.

Hm, I just thought about something: What is Balak was in that system that we exploded in Arrival? Poetic justice, I think.

Then Balak's son, Bleak, should try to track down Shepard. :bandit:

Mac Walters recently tweeted that one of their goals for me3 is to leave no story threads hanging, so take from that what you will.

Will we ever catch Balak and the rest of his batarian comrades in ME3, or should I have just killed him?

You don't have to kill him.  You can leave him to be arrested.

Don't care for Balak. I killed his squad and secured him for the Alliance.
I rather sacrifice few scientists then allow a major terrorist to run and go kill more people.
P.S This isn't paragon or renegade decision, this is grey decision. No matter what option you pick both of them have bad consequences.
