I can't believe someone actually suggested there was no evidence from evolution. That's like walking outside of your house and claiming there is no evidence that the world is round.

But then you risk antagonizing people who are in a resurrection cult, such as christians. Him being dead and coming back to life has caused enough stir as it is, if you want to delve into a religious/metaphysical discussion about it, IN-GAME, you will turn off certain groups of fans. Not smart.
Oh, I totally agree. I just think ME2 stepped on that landmine all by itself, when it could have just said Shepard was in a "coma" and left it at that. Not very believable science-wise... but no less so than potentially reviving the dead.

To me, use of the word "Lazarus" is no more than a passing reference or nod to the Lazarus Pits that Ra's al Ghul uses in the Batman comic books to rejuvenate himself.
You seriously think that was an allusion to Batman? Uh-huh. And Legion's name was really an X-Men reference.
Well said didymos1120

At the end of the day we’re all going to know one way or the other; instead of worrying about the destination, why not just try to enjoy the ride.

Religion should not play a bigger role! Let the player decide if they really want to learn more about another species religion, but do not force it upon the player.

I think this topic is all the proof needed that religion can be divisive and should be left out.
This thread doesn't seem that divisive to me. I think my standards are much different than most though
The developers didn't touch on religion, I think to maximize sales potential. Getting all preachy about being non-religious or religious will put people off. Not a good marketing strategy. They left it open enough for the player to determine their character's motivations and beliefs, which is a pretty good way to deal with it.
Not everything need be spoonfed to the player. The Lazarus project has some obvious theological implications, but rather than promote any one set of theologies, they just kind of let the player form their own opinion on it.
I agree. While we have some with clear differences in perspective, most of them are being respectful when they disagree.
What, per say, do you mean by "you guys"? You have to know me beyond my avatar to say anything about me, so humor me. And I've been posting up here.

If God exists in the ME universe he was indoctrinated and turned into a Reaper long ago. Unless unleashing the Reapers is how he gets his kicks, than he's just a jerk.
Who says god's a "he" if it does exist? My god's a gigantic ron cake that I can have and eat too.

I love how everyone not of a certain bent tends to be as derogatory as possible. "pesky protestant fundamentalist sects"? Really? That sounds completely unbiased.
This isn't the place for extended discussion of the topic, but evolution is a logical fallacy.

Quite funny, I remember the news here in the U.K reporting on the idiocy of these american journalists. It's the only reason I know about it, was fun to see the guy from gametrailers just basically say "no your wrong... yes that too is also wrong.. have you even played this game?... why am I even bothering to debate with this idiot"
Well in my country we knew about it because of what that guy... O´realli something like that, said "If the american people don´t support the war they must shut up" xD good heaven

Religion should play no role at all, not in video games not in life.
Edit: To clarify, ignoring religion and the role that it plays in understanding a culture is about as silly as having God be the ME3 Deus Ex Machina to defeat the Reapers.
You are not required to believe the religion to accept its cultural significance.

Because the mods thought that the topic, the role of religion (not evolution or its counterpart) in ME3, was worth exploring and that people would be mature. Let's not prove them wrong.
