Now, I've recently been replaying some of the DLC for ME2. Mainly Lair of The Shadow Broker and Kasumi.

In Kasumi's loyalty mission, we're trying to get back her partner's grey box. This grey box has secrets that could greatly damage the Alliance's reputation. Now, we never found out what that secret is. It could be anything for all we know.Bu I think it could be evidence that Alliance may support Cerberus. But not all of Alliance, I'm talking the top ranking Alliance officials, people like Hackett.

So After beating Kasumi's mission, I beat Lair of the Shadow Broker. So I was watching some of the videos from the archive and stumbled upon a video of Anderson talking to a Cerberus Agent. It didn't look like Anderson was yelling or trying to arrest this Cerberus agent, but rather just talking peacefully with him, and he appears to do this in secrecy.  This raises a lot of questions. Why is Anderson talking to a Cerberus agent? Does anderson support Cerberus? Could he be one of the People that funds Cerberus?

With Anderson dealing with Cerberus agents and Keiji's Grey box having secrets that could damage the Alliance, we really have to ask; is Cerberus and the Alliance really enemies? Is it possible that they are working together? To further the theory that they are working together, remember Kahoku? He was investigating Cerberus and was murdered. The interesting part is that his death was covered up and said to be done by natural causes. Why would alliance cover this up? They could be working with Cerberus. Also Cerberus was once part of the Alliance, it could be possible that the Alliance still secretly backs it up.

So in ME3 it could be revealed that Cerberus is allied with Alliance and they are both working to similar goals.

The retribution novel talks about a number of Alliance personnel from all over the chain of command supporting Cerberus. The Alliance clearly benefits from Cerberus in some capacity for those people to be supporting them.

I don't know about all the books/comics, but in ME 1, Cerberus was referred to as a black ops group that had gone out of hand. It was that one admiral near the Council that said it when you completed his quest.

I'm hoping they pick up the mystery of Cerberus they left hanging in ME1.

Potentially still a black ops arm of the Alliance, potentially any number of interesting connections between Alliance and Cerberus.

Unfortunately it looks more and more like Cerberus is filling the generic bad guy evil empire etc and having nothing, or sweet bugger all, connection to the alliance.

But in ME3 Cerberus is out to kill Shepherd. Also, I think it was mention in ME2 that Cerberus is more solitary and only "passes" along info to each other if its helpful. If anything, I think the Illusive Man has an alliance with the Reapers.

It'd be interesting to see parts of the Alliance and parts of Cerberus working together or sharing information, it introduces shades of gray to both organizations. This also makes me wonder if all of Cerberus is against Shepard, or only parts of it.

Anderson was talking to a Cerberus agent probably to find out more about Shepard. I can't see any reason for him to trust Cerberus after the events of the novels and everything he says in the games.

I get the feeling that there are probably a few Failberus supporters even high up in the Alliance chain of command. But considering that Failberus is considered a terrorist organisation that basicaly everyone would prefer gone I think it's safe to say that the big majority of humanity thinks that Failberus harms humanity more than helps it.

Well, Alliance backers/supporters within Cerberus is nothing new. It doesn't necessarily mean that they're working together or that their goals are compatible.

I highly doubt that Anderson is in league with Cerberus. In fact, the events of the Retribution Novel spell that out VERY clearly.

Yeah, Anderson would have to be like a quadruple agent to work for Cerberus by now. Might as well say that Admiral Kahoku worked for them.
I think that Cerb has some high Alliance fficials in their pocket is a given though. How else could they operate like they do since Ascnesion.
Anyway, where is Zulu_DFA when you need him :).

I'm sure they work together in at least some capacity, whether or not the Alliance knows it. I'm sure Cerberus double agents give Alliance research to Cerberus, and maybe secretly give Cerberus research to the Alliance.

It was hard to tell given the image quality but I thought Anderson was talking to Ken from engineering?

I would love for Shepard to discover that the Alliance is still closely tied to Cerberus beyond a few supporters in their chain of command. Give Cerberus and humanity back some ambiguity.

Never read the books or comics, so I can't comment on that. But maybe Cerberus and Alliance are working towards a goal of getting rid of all the aliens or weakening the aliens so humans can dominate. Cerberus may want the reapers to destroy those species and people in the Alliance secretly supports that. This could mean Cerberus is trying to get rid of Shepard because they think he is going to make aliens stronger which will weaken humanity. Also, maybe Cerberus already has a weapon to defeat the reaper (anyone remember the "Defunct mass accelerated cannon" from the derelict Reaper? TIM keeps a lot of secrets, so maybe TIM knows how to use it).

If my memory serves me correctly, when looking through the greybox, keiji mentioned the Alliance's secret and pointed to a file with a reaper-ish ship on it- I don't remember if that's right though, but i'm pretty sure it is.

(listen to this while reading):

<During ME3 Admiral Hackett mysteriously calls on Shepard to visit him at Arcturus Station.

Admiral Hackett: Commander Shepard, I want you to finally meet the Alliance's long time friend and ally. He is powerful, successful, and ruthless- traits which are important to us in the Alliance. I think that you may already be aquainted.

<The Illusive Man walks into the room>

TIM: Thank you Steven. Shepard it's good to finally meet you in the flesh.

Shepard: :o I knew it! Cerberus and the Alliance were working together all along! You have been lying to me all this time!

TIM: No Shepard, you've got it all wrong. Cerberus aren't just working with the Alliance...

...Cerberus IS the Alliance.

Actually, a few of Zulu's threads are rather well thought out and are enjoyable reads even if you disagree with them.

Well, Evolution #4 did make it look as if the Manifesto had been recorded by TIM aboard the Arcturus Station...

I suspect a connection between Failberus and the Alliance could be inside that greybox though there was never any real hints about what it contained except Kenjis memories.
