For people who have installed the Ultimate version of Dragon Age from Steam and found that the DLC's cannot be installed because of an authorization issue.

Bioware have recently resolved the 'DLC authorization' issue for the Ultimate version of Dragon Age, it was partly related to game not locating the registry entries on your computer; they released an update/patch for this (i.e. social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/7866040) but Steam will not use it because they do not support BETA patches.

Note: you cannot apply the public beta release (1.05) to fix the ‘DLC authorization' issue if it was installed by Steam.

The best work around that I found was to simply uninstall the game from Steam and install it with Origin using the same product CD key that you purchased; then installing the latest patch (1.05) from Bioware works perfectly.  This means that you will need to download the 27GB again, but it is worth it to have all the features of the game working as intended.

  • Ensure that you have associated your product CD key and DLC key to the account that you are using for Login in the game; good notes are listed by Fernando Melo here (social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/5151520)
  • From Steam make note of the Product Code of the game (Right click on the game and choose 'View Game CD Key/s')
  • Back up the version of "Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition" that you installed via Steam
  • Now, remove the local files from Steam (i.e. uninstall the game)
  • Restart your computer
  • Download the new "Origin" - Download Manager from here (www.origin.com/about)
  • Install this Oirgin download manager and login with your EA account (i.e. e-mail + password)
  • From the Origin download manager, select the tool's icon (from the menu bar) + select the option 'Redeem product Code'
  • Insert the product code of the game (i.e. you made note of this from Step 2)
  • Download/Install the game from Origin (i.e. it will be automatically installed from Origin)
  • Now, download/install the latest patch from Bioware to fix the DLC authorization issue  (na.llnet.bioware.cdn.ea.com/u/f/eagames/bioware/dragonage/patch/1.05/beta/DragonAge1.05.exe)
Note: Please read the notes from Rob bartel from here regarding the beta patch (social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/7866040)

Note: If you have problems with partially downloaded DLC's and you need to manually do stuff then HemisH wrote listed some useful steps for dealing with these types of issue from here (social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/81613)

Hope this helps other people in the same situation as me;

Ciao,
Patrick

After you uninstall the game from Steam and then Install with Origin, you will NOT lose the previously saved games etc...; these are saved in the game directory (associated with the loged in user) that will also be loaded when you reinstall with Origin.

Also worth mentioning - Install the DLC's ONE AT A TIME; don't simply select all of them to download + install simultaneously; I have seen an issue with this where one or two of them hung on me, I then needed to manually remove them and then re-download + install making reference to notes from HemisH (social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/81613)
