Sorry, but Liara hasn't gone through puberty yet. She is only 106 or so. Matron stage doen't begin 'till around 400 per the Codex. So if you want to knock up Liara, you will have to wait until she's hit puberty. :-)

Asari can't have children till matron phase? What did I miss?

You're applying a human developmental concept to them which doesn't really apply.

When you speak with Samara, she tells you that the Ardat-Yakshi trait shows itself at puberty. She also said that Morinth ran at the age of 40.

40 = asari puberty

Well, if Liara is preggers its not because of any of my Shepards, so, not their business. I'm sure they'd pat her on the head and wish her well in the future.

Better yet what do you think Shepherd conversation option would be?

Paragon:"Thats wonderful Liara!"
neutral:"Uhhhh...you sure its mine?"
Renegade:"Im pretty sure it was the varrian."

edit:good point! changed it.

I'm pretty sure this would ruin my whole ME3 experience. I will do research on the internet after the game has come out, and if I find any hints about any pregnancies, I'm not going to buy ME3. /epic sarcastic threat to BioWare

But seriously - I wouldn't mind if that happened, I just hope that it's going to be done well! :wizard:

She doesn't use the term.  She says "maturity".  Like I said, the concept doesn't really fit well with asari.  They reach a point at which they become sexually active, but have little interest in children (and the Codex is unclear as to whether they're even capable of doing so at that stage).  Eventually they'll hit the Matron stage (sooner if they meld often) and experience futher physiological change and begin having children (if they want them, of course).

Codex doesn't say that.  It simply says the Matron stage is "marked by a desire to settle in one area and raise children."  The actual capability to have them, and when they acquire that capability, isn't discussed.

No, the correct answer as of now is "We don't yet know if she can or cannot."  The dialogue in Lair implies that she might be able to, but it isn't conclusive.

It would depend if it was social stigma (like us with teen moms) or biology that determines when an asari has children, the codex doesn't state either way.

True, but the thought of it not being possible is just ludicrous

As an epilogue option I would love it but ME3 is not a child-raising simulator. A bit of dialogue is great, seeing the child even, but as a game mechanic I wouldn't like it. It's still the ending for my Sheps that I would prefer but seriously Mass Effect is not a child-raising sim.

As Didymos pointed out, the Codex states that the Matron stage is when the Asari feels that nesting urge - implying that the Maiden stage is intended to be wild. Obviously, Liara doesn't fit that stereotype at all.

I think that the scope of the gameplay is too small for a pregnancy to be really compelling. It wouldn't have any sense for Shepard to impregnate Liara during the gameplay of ME3 - there are far more important things to consider. With that in mind, I don't expect for the epilogue to be more than 15 to 20 minutes in length (so a bit longer than ME1 and ME2) - and keep in mind that there is an entire trilogy to tie up. That said, I wouldn't be averse to a bondmate ceremony for the two. However, I think that having a pregnancy be really meaningful would require much more time between the two (as well as some changes in behavior) that wouldn't be doable in two minutes.

would love to see liara pregnant at the end of ME3. if i had the chance to father children that coul live for 1000 years theres no way id pass that up, my shep cant miss out on that kind of long term legacy

im sorry. i cant get over putting samuel L jackson interrupts into mass effect 3. i can also think of a few obvious situations to sneak him into mass effect 2

to Vetor on Horizon
"BANG! oh im sorry, did i break your concentration? i didnt mean to do that. please, continue"

to Adm Hackett after the events of The Arrival
"Yes, they deserve to die and I hope they burn in hell"

to jacob every time he opens his daaaa-mn mouth
http://youtu.be/fTfxJUpz2EI "i dont remember askin you a G.D. thing!"

to morinth on omega
Black Snake Moan "god put you in my path and I aim to cure you of your wickedness"
[that line is in the official trailer, not posting that clip tho]

Why are pregnancy threads always creepy like this?

I am amazed at the fact that no one has brought up FemShep pregnancy yet, or another kind of interspecies pregnancy...

Oh it was brought up. Fan art was done too.

I'd send you links but I'm guessing you don't want to have nightmares
