Well, keep in mind that 'go to Denirim' probably means every time you enter the Denirim marketplace, so if you do all the quests in Denirim itself you're quite likely to reach that number near the end of the game.

Question: Is it only to the Market as in from other parts in Denerim or do we have to come from somewhere else on the overland map?

I believe it's entering the Market 42 times.  I'd have to get Craig to verify that.

Or enter from a building in the market place. I encountered them both finishes playthroughs so far without even trying.

I do think they look too much like regular kittens, though. They should have had glowing eyes like Kitty, but then glowing green or something.

Haha, yeah I remember seeing that and strangely enough as with everyone else taking a picture of it on one of my playthroughs, will have to pay more attention for it now on future ones. I know one of my current playthroughs probably won't get it as already completed circle tower and most of redcliffe before visiting denerim for the first time (to obviously go look for brother genitivi), whereas usually the place is either my first or 2nd place that I visit after lothering.

Who doesn't? Every time you exit a building counts, too - and a lot of quests send you into buildings in the market district.

First time I read about this on the forum it was said it happened after doing the mission of killing one of those one letter guys you do missions for (I think it was "k"). I'm ready to support that claim.

I never got any kitten army with my first character, who didn't do that quest. My second char did that quest and just after that i got the kittens. Could be a coincidence though that it happened to be my 42nd entering of the market. I wasn't exactly keeping record of that
