About Jack's loyalty mission: can you abort it?

Okay, I have the same issue everyone else has concerning that catfight Miranda and Jack have (damn it, Bioware, why didn't you let Shep just watch the two and take the pics like Joker asked you to do?). First ME1 imported playthrough, got the charm option to stop it without taking sides. Second...both greyed out, had to choose a side.

So, instead of wanting to find out if the other half is as hard as everyone says it is (getting loyalty with who you pissed off back), I thought that perhaps there is a third option: loading up a previous save and not do Jack's mission yet (Pragia).

And herein lies a major question: all of my saves are where I HAVE to start the save when they land on the planet. Currently, I see no way to just leave the planet without doing the entirety of the mission again, and no way to avoid having to choose sides in the confrontation.

In this second playthrough, I pretty much screwed myself with the Paragon/Renegade stuff, so I don't think this would matter (the Mordin apartment charm/intim options were greyed out, as well, and Shep immediately chose to kill Mordin, never giving me the option to choose who to kill, so I'm guessing that's a bad sign for the Legion/Tali fight that happens later (which I've yet to see), since I want to romance Tali in this one AND keep everyone alive in the suicide mission).

However, this could be helpful to a few people to know this, but is it at all possible to leave Pragia without doing the mission once you decide to land there? Any abort options?

I don't want to have to edit a save because I don't want to mess anything up (the game crashed in such a way last night that a save game me the "Unknown Area" thing, so I'm not messing with anything else, and I think the game is glitching on me anyway as I recieved a ton of Acheivement update boxes when I got that crash issue sorted out, so I'm guessing something got screwed up in all of that crash)..

So, yeah....any way to just change your mind about doing the mission and saving it for later?

Nope. You're stuck if you lack any earlier saves.  If you have the save editor though, I just advise you to give yourself enough P/R points to pass the check.

Ick. I'm somewhat of a moral hound in that I want to be able to beat games without cheating (unless it's an older game that I've beaten countless times or if I'm getting a trophy like the Epic Tier 3 one on the first Dead Space...I'll admit to using the stasis cheat on that because that game was too effin hard on the highest difficulty not to do it).

I think my game got messed up, anyway, though. The crash I spoke of was a BSOD crash (don't worry, my system was fine up until that point...had to reinstall Windows a few nights ago, though, because for some odd reason something made my full install of 7 get wiped out completely. Long story). It might've messed up my save somehow (it didn't give me the "Resume" option when I finally got to play again, and I was scared my entire game got wiped). Otherwise...DAMN!

You mean Morinth right? Not Mordin? He's the Salarian.

Cheating is good. It lets you do entertaining stuff that the game ussually prevents.

Yeah, Morinth is who I meant to say. Wasn't sure of the name.

I just started a new game from my finished ME2 data, since I think something happened to my save as a result of that crash (probably some stats or whatever got wiped when it happened; the Unknown Data save might've been a sign that something happened to it).
