Are you saying Tali isn't clingy?

Seriously?

Ash got butt-hurt and wouldn't hear shep out then sent some sappy email.

If you saw your loved one die and spent 2 years trying to forget them, only to have them reappear - alive and well - working for a terrorist group who go against everything you believe in, would you just go "Hey, it's cool, let's go up to your ship and f**k?"

Wait, just ignore that. You're a guy, of course you would say that.

toolfan9284 wrote...

Tali on the other hand has this allure to her, very much the quiet type, shy and reserved yet when pressed she gets nervous and starts fumbling with her words. I find it cute and adorable.

It's called a "phase". She will not STAY cute and adorable, especially not when the honeymoon is over and your hormonal levels start returning to normal.

Seriously, have you people ever had a real relationship? Hooking up with someone because they are cute, bubbly and "adorable" is setting yourself up for a really lousy and inevitably terribly boring relationship. Tali is a good fling, but a terrible long-term partner.

toolfan9284 wrote...

Out of all of the male shep LI's she seems like the one who will be there for shep when he needs someone.

"Hey Shepard, I know we're fighting the Reapers, but my fleet needs me to help them wage a war that will likely end in our complete and utter extinction. I have to go."

I think out of all 16 squadmates, she's the one who has yet to cut her figurative umbilical cord. The only way to squeeze some god's honest sense out of her is by having her exiled.

toolfan9284 wrote...

Considering what Sheps been through and still has to do, he's going to need that support.

Shepard can deal with it. Banging alien chicks is optional.

toolfan9284 wrote...

Liara is the only other LI capable of providing the level of support shep requires imo.

All Shepard truly needs is his bros.

After witnessing Jack's walls crumble during the romance scene stands to reason that the Jack we see in ME3 will emotionally differ greatly then the one we saw in ME2.  An example of Tali's aforementioned clingyness would be helpful.

If you have read some of my previous thoughts on the VS encounter on Horizon you would note that I see both sides of the argument.  I did not anticipate Ash taking the confirmation of working with Cerberus well, especially after hearing previously from both Tali and Garrus they're concerns but ultimately deciding to trust Sheperd, not trust Cerberus.

A phase, yes possibly but it gives you pause nonetheless as a small thing that invites you in and encourages you to see what if anything lies beneath.  All relationships begin with something that attracts one to the other and vice versa.

Being there for someone does not always mean a constant physical presence, but knowing you can be secure in the fact that they aren't going to jump ship when things get tough and that ultimately they have your trust.

After the talk with Liara after LotSB, given the option to express how Shep is doing, you begin to see the weight they must carry is a large burden, having those around you that you can trust helps shoulder that burden.

Maybe your Sheps, but mine need something and someone else to fight for.

true, why is it becoming too personal. Some of us chose Tali because to us she was the best choice. I chose her because her character was, to me, the best one compared to the other female characters and she had feelings for Shepard since ME1.

Reasons to romance Tali is... hell the women had a thing for Shepard since Mass effect 1. She explains it very well. Other women on board couldn't top that.

I disapprove.
First time i saw her i knew i was an ETsexual (lol) but no seriously, i always liked her, much more than the other characters, her style, her forms, her colors, they always appealed to me in a way no other squaddies did.
Her innocence and shyness really caught my eye in me1, and has ever since.
Why would  romance her? Because i like her, alot, and the feeling is mutual in me2, that li made my ME experience so much better.

For me, there was one point in Tali's loyalty mission when I felt that Tali and Shepard should be together. It was as they were about to leave and Shepard said "Come on, Tali 'Zorah vos Normandy, let's get back to our ship" I don't know if it was the intent of the voice actor, but Shepard said that line with such genuine affection and warmth and gave me the impression that he really loves and cares for her.

She is clingy, but Jack... Jack is "I'm gonna rip your head off if I even suspect you're thinking about someone else" clingy.

This. LIs are fun and interesting but Shep's a grownass man saving the galaxy! I don't think he *needs* anyone.

Apologies. I meant she seems more prone to become clingy to an excessive and dangerous degree than say, Miranda/Tali/anyone else.

For those who have their Shepard romance Tali, i want to ask is why?  Why create a romance in ME2 with tali?  Do you want stress to be put on your Shepard.  After all, you are picking a romance that has HUGE OBSTICLES, and the fact that if they continue this romance, they can not make in a habit in having contact with one another (whether it is sex, kissing, or Shephard just touching her skin),this  just makes it even worse.  And if you think about it, the longer it gets, the more stress would be put on Shepard and Tali.  So what is the point?  Because even if you decide to romance Tali in ME2, and carry it over into ME3, and Tali and Shepard survive ME3, it would be a miracle if they could continue a long lasting relationship.

So with all that stated, please explain why you wanted to romance Tali?  Do you like relationships that have many challenges?

I actually don't hate the character of Tali, however im just wondering why some people think a romance between the two is a good idea.

Shepard wants to.

And Tali wants to.

That's why. :wizard:

I personally love Tali's character. She kind, with a bit sas. And being a female playing a male character, I admit at first I was going to choose either Miranda or Jack, but Tali grew on me. I first saw her as a little sister, but then I saw her hold her own, sort of, during the trial and on her father's ship; I started to see her as a woman instead of a scared little girl like in the first one. Then she gave me this long spiel about how she had been watching my male shepard for a long time, so with mixed emotions, I was courious and thought that I would get to see her face. I took the bait and was a bit disappointed but she grew on me, and now I can't wait for the 3rd one to come out to see where my shep and Tali's romance goes. Image IPB

There's one good reason, a great reason in fact to romance her and that's to win her over to the Cerberus cause thanks to Shepard's magic penis.

I haven't romanced Tali, but had she been an option for FemShep, I would have. It's nothing against ManShep, but I just have this... loathing... of the whole knight-in-shining-armor-gets-with-the-frail-princess thing. It seems more acceptable to me if they're both girls. Call me sexist.

ANYWAY, given the opportunity, I totally would. Firstly, she is so f*cking cute like omigod. The hand-fidget, the fact that she named her combat drone, dem hipz, yada yada yada. Secondly, she's relatable. I mean, really, haven't we all been in that position where our friends and family expect us the be someone we're not? Haven't we all had to choose between what we thought was right and loyalty to our friends/traditions/whatever before? And thirdly, she loves and trusts Shepard enough to risk her life. That kind of love isn't impulsive or hormonal. That's real, and that's deep.

But what about all the risks? Part of me sees her wanting to be with Shepard physically as sort of a desire on her part to prove her own strength. Her team died on Haestrom to protect her--they all risked themselves so she wouldn't get hurt. Maybe she's tired of that, maybe she wants to stop sitting on the sidelines and put herself on the line for someone she cares about instead. I really think she deserves that absolution, deserves to have someone trust in her enough to take care of herself. And besides, with Mordin and Chakwas around, it's in the bag.

But even then, unbarriered physical contact would be a very rare and risky event. She and Shepard can't eat the same food, can't kiss or touch each other, often have wildly divergent worldviews and duties... it'd be hell. But sometimes you endure it, deal with all the consequences and limitations, because it's worth it.

When you care about someone enough, you make it work.

Because it's more emotional. The obstacles that you get past together and stuff.

lol that is definitely sexist. And I wouldn't say Shepard is any knight in shining armor, a knight in shining armor would pass on the relationship, because they have her best interest in mind.

Because she wants to jump your bones?

Tali's was my second least favorite romance in the entire series (Jack has her beat). But if you're a fan of her character (which a hell of a lot of people are) then you'll probably like her romance. For me, Tali was a hit or miss character and her romance was shallow (I"I've had a crush on you since forever, Teehee.")

I would call it fanservice but then a bunch of Tali-Defenders will start bashing me for it, but her romance was really what it was. Tali, along with Garrus, was the most requested romance, and the entire plot of said romance read like a "Talimance" fanfiction

For me, there really was no depth to the romance because I'm not that big of a fan of Tali. That and I'm just not a fan of the "Blushing Virgin Personality." I didn't care for it with Liara and I still don't with Tali. :P

Personally I like Tali (not a huge fan of her) but I do find the Tali romance to be a rather over rated fanservice gone wrong (don't mean to offend Talimancers) it could have been done a lot better by focusing of the slowly developing intrest between Shepard and Tali instead of Tali going "I love you Shepard after two years please take me!!!!!"

What good reasons are there to romance anyone? What is the point of this thread? This thread is begging to be taken over by tali haters. Honestly, theres a reason each character has there own thread where you can ask these questions.
