Why romance Tali? Because some people like being the guy in Shining Armor who has the lady fall over heels for him. Nothing wrong with that.

Why must there be a good reason?
Romances are like picking a color for your armor. There is nothing important about them, they are only subplots.
It's just a matter of taste and how you RP your character to make the game more enjoyable.
The next discussion should be about ice cream. Chocolate or vanilla?

Oh yes he/she can. Miri's face is visible and quite pretty. Tali's however... Eeh.. It's hidden in a bowl like a fish, but the glass is darkened, clearly to hide something unpleasant. You can't deny it, you have no proof, I mean logically why something, that's pretty would be hidden? There's no reason...

Because the players aren't really being faced with the obstacles Shepard is facing so they don't mind all the risks and stress they are creating on screen because that isn't what they see or in fact they like the melodrama.

I personally could never romance Tali because my Shepards all think physicality is an important part of a relationship. Same reason I don't understand people who want Joker as a LI... that... and the porn he watches is questionable.

It never occurred to me I needed a practical reason to romance a fictional character in a videogame where romance is not even the pivotal point of the gameplay... :/

I could give a few reasons, which are the tipical ones (I like her character, I think that Shepard would have preferred her, etc...), but I guess the basic one is simply that it's my game...
Since I bought it with my money to have fun playing it, I can claim for myself the right to make whatever decision I want in it, especially when it comes to defining the character of my Shep (which is one of the things romance does)...

What I do in my game is ok in my game just because (regardless of weather I did it because I felt it was what that Shep would have done or due to random flights of fancy): I guess that's the main reason I romanced with some Sheps Tali, with others Miranda or Ashley or Liara or Garrus or Kaidan or whoever else...

Also, for those who are worried: you can actually romance Tali and not consummate, therefore avoiding any problem with infections... Just turn her down before the suicide mission, unlike with Jack and Garrus doing so doesn't break the romance...

Thought I'm not completely sure about the exact percentage, something like 30%-40% maybe? I don't remember...
