By taking Hawke out of our hands, the writers can make Hawke the most important person in Dragon Age. Aren't you all forgetting that all we saw in DA2 was the "origin" story of Hawke?

Warden - Queen Elissa Theirin (F): Warrior, archer, Queen of Ferelden. Young and naive, and a do-gooder to the extreme. Always goes out of her way to help others, and has a strong sense of justice. Romanced Alistair. Alistair lopped Loghain's head off before she could act, but she believes in showing mercy to everyone. Asked Alistair to perform the DR, he agreed.
Hawke - Caelyn (F): Mage. Also a do-gooder. Is almost identical to Elissa in that she constantly puts others before herself. Carver became a templar, Isabela came back with the Tome of Koslun, and Marian dueled the Arishok. Sided with the mages, spared Anders, friendmanced Fenris.
DA3 protagonist - (F): Rogue. A sarcastic, sometimes aggressive (hopefully) elf. Does the right thing, eventually, but uses non-traditional means to do so (i.e, intimidation, etc). She looks out for herself and her friends/family first.
(I was planning to use my DA3 protagonist's personality for my Hawke, but Mari sort of wrote herself... so I'm not sure if I'll be able to stick to the planned personality
)

DA1 - Human Male Noble S&S Champion/Templar who always sided(well tried to stay) with the good.
DA2 - Male Blood Mage who tried to do good and ended up siding with the mages.
DA3 - Male Rogue.

I just want to see even better looking skin tones, they were better than the first in the second game, but still had a number of flaws.
Also, a body build similar to Isabela and Aveline, with slight variations between class is my biggest hope.
Then they need better looking asian facial features for human if they go back to choice in race.
Anyway, I will answer the question though:
My characters are always Female, always Warrior, and pretty much have the same personalities. Don't take crap, will kill anyone in their path even if their friend or family. Then both games went with Berserker, no doubt will go to whatever happens to be the equivalent.

Well, I have scads of Wardens and a few different Hawkes. I do have a semi-accidental rule that they're never both male in the same canon, and they're *usually* not both mages, but everything else is pretty variable.
The "main" playthrough that I keep going back to, though, is
Warden: Female Cousland, warrior/archer/champion with enough points in S&B to tank when needed, Lawful Good, very friendly and kind but with a strong sense of duty and a strong faith in the Chantry.
Hawke: Female Hawke, warrior/2h/reaver, Neutral Good, incapable of taking anything remotely seriously except for the safety of her family, not looking for a fight or to change the world but not willing to turn her back once the chance to do Right is right in front of her.
So DA3 will, if I buy it, likely be a Chaotic Good mage who does want to change things and shake the world up a bit, probably a great believer in Anders' revolution from the beginning (whether as a participant, which I think is unlikely, or a historical note).
