I was wondering... due to the extermination and experimentation of the human race in ME2, could the reapers now be afraid of Shepard due to the fact that not only has he killed their vanguard, Sovereign, but also a half dead "yet still dreaming/alive" reaper, or could they be interested in him, believing that Shepard could become a human reaper ( not to the same scale as the last of course ) because he is the perfect candidate due to his excellance?

Well, according to Harbinger in Arrival, Shepard's only been upgraded to "annoyance" status so far.

I dont think the Reapers are capable of emotions such as fear. It seems they are most likely interested in her and how she has managed to do so much to effect them. A unique specimen worthy of further study so to speak.

Although Im sure there more to it then just that. But with the little information we have at the moment its the most obvious conclusion

This is purely speculation on what you believe ;). But as a side note, I believe that the reapers are in fact aftraid of Shepard because he can kill them.... no one has done that so far ( that we know of ) so all their hype of being immortal and invincible has clearly been tossed out of the window, and I also believe that the fact that shepard is the one that has stood out of average "alien" even after so many millenia, interests them. I believe that they want to keep Shepard because he's most interesting, while destroying every last human because of the possibility that they could too, become a nuissance.

Also, it ain't like Shep slew either Sovvy or the HR singlehandedly.

They don't really acknowledge him as an actual threat.

No one really knows what destroyed that reaper in the first place, it could have been a myriad of reasons, which is why I excluded it. And I know Shepard didn't kill Sovereign singlehandedly... read the stuff I've already written.

They are interested in Shep because he has so far delayed their plans. I don't think they are afraid of him though. I don't think they even are capable of fear.

Did you just not listen to the dialogue?  We know exactly what killed it: a huge mass accelerator.  Knowing that is what allowed anyone to find the thing in the first place.

Yes, I did, but who's mass accelerator?

That's completely irrelevant.

It doesn't matter. It's sufficient to know that mass accelerators don't build themselves.  You said no one had managed to kill a Reaper before.  You're wrong. Period.  Shifting the goalposts won't change that.

Yes I did say that but I later went on to say "( that we know of)*. As I said, we don't know of who killed it, it wasn't an attack on the reaper itself so infact, no one killed it, the tecnology that was there killed it. I'm not saying that tech can't kill a reaper I'm saying that the people fighting the reapers have tried without any luck. Therefore, no one, personally, destroyed a reaper with their own might, or on purpose in that mindset.

We don't know, this happened during a war waged while mammals just started walking around on the earth.

See, the reason why I found the Reapers so fascinating in ME1 was because of Sovereign attitude towards Shep. Sov made the reapers sound like beings of impossible comprehension; unknown origin, goals, ect.. Sov made organic life seem like ants in the eyes of the Reapers though even Sov doesn't have a name for his own race.

If anything, they are treating him as more of a nuisance now. I'm hoping in ME3 we learn more about the Reapers, I disagree with Vigel's logic; in order to beat them, I must understand them.

Well for all of the naysayers in the obvious interest the reapers have/had with humanity, look at ME2. Their main goal was to make a reaper-human hybrid.... probably because they consider humans as being more than the past civilizations that they have destroyed and could possibly usher forth something stronger... like a new Sovereign. They don't have to be afraid, just comprehend the statistics of Shepard's triumphs over them so far, which, would make them either wish to utterly destroy the human race outright due to data saying that it is possible to lose to them, and possibly wanting to preserve Shepards body and transform him into a hybrid or enhance their own selves by experimenting on Shepard. Think about it.

Which is blatantly wrong, as mammals started walking around on the earth long before that.

TIM never paid attention in school.

@ Arcian

Love the Prothy theory!!!!! I hope it is in fact a reality in ME3, it would be the perfect way to end the trilogy.

That's cool, but you should really comment in the Prothy Thread instead of going off-topic here.

They should have gone with "simians", which is close enough in terms of geological time for "first steps" to apply in a figurative sense.
