I agree that Carver is better as a warden, I also think that Bethany is better in the circle.

^^ I agree Bethany in the Circle for sure, her as a warden, well she becomes a depressed basket case.

This.

Bethany is not made for the hard life of a Warden.

Carver on the other hand can get his chance to become a real hero, the very thing he always wanted to.
Also, Templar Carver is just an ass.

Being a Warden is the best thing that can happen to Carver, he matures when he becomes one.

While Bethany is happier as a Circle Mage (at least until everything goes to hell)... I think she's a more interesting character as a Warden. Carver, on the other hand, is both more interesting AND happier as a Warden.

Agreed.

CM Bethany bores me to tears.

I prefer Warden Carver. He seems happier. Carver is proud of himself and what he is doing as a Warden.

I prefer my siblings as Wardens, if only to get them the Hell away from a city full of psycho blood mages, demon cults, and extremist fanatics.

Warden Carver makes me happy. He's doing his own thing, he's valued for himself, and he is learning to let go of his resentment. So yeah, Carver's always a Warden in my game.

Bethany? Meh. She usually winds up being a Circle mage, I guess. Don't play non-mages that often.

The one good thing about Templar Carver is that he actively chooses his own path rather than "letting" life happen to him and then blaming others.  My Hawke was quite proud of him when he heard the news, even if the Templars aren't his favorite group as a whole.  Little brother's growing up!

Edit:  And how could I forget the other bonus?  Templar Carver reciting the chant to Isabela while Seb squirms in the background.

In my game Carver usually ends up as an ogre doll :P .

Next time I'll try the warden path if you say he exhibits less antipathy.

Try siding with the Templars at least once if you do this (even if you have to reload later).  It breaks his brain.

Warden for Carver because he finds a place in the world and isn't a ******. Circle for Bethany because being a Warden isn't for her and sucks when there isn't a Blight. Also, she is one of the only rational and sane party members in the game. I'd rather not turn her into a completely angsty basket case. So, no Darkspawn taint for the little sister.

He's an absolute ass as a Templar, which I figured would happen anyway, but I'd already had a Warden Bethany, so I wanted to see the other options.

I did the Templar once for him and he wasn't really happy. He seems to find out what he wants as a Warden.

To my count, Warden Carver appears a whooping one more time than Templar Carver...

Templar Carver

1) With Meredith at the end of Act 2
2) At the beginning of Act 3 I believe
3) When **** hits the fan in Act 3
4) Legacy

Warden Carver
1) With the Grey Wardens in Act 2
2) With Nathaniel
3) When he's kidnapped
4) When **** hits the fan in Act 3
5) Legacy

I could've sworn there were more. Maybe I'm forgetting some. At any rate, Warden Carver has more lines than Templar Carver.

He gets kidnapped as a Templar as well. Technically, that's 5 and 5. :)

I thought it was just me. After my last playthrough (with really ugly Bethany), I toyed with the idea of letting her die in the Deep Roads, but I let her live as a whiny Circle mage. Perhaps I should let her be a Warden next time. I did that in my first playthrough, but that was 9 pts ago.

I haven't tried Carver as a Templar, either.

Definitely warden......... he does grow up and does admit that he feels he has really found his place in life as a warden :)
He is a far more interesting character than Bethany too, well written and funny as well as grumpy and sarcastic... The life of a warden suits him, makes him more of a heroic figure doing things that really matter. I prefer rogue as a class but am stuck with mage because I love Carver so much....

Warden Carver complains more about his lot than Templar Carver.
