How do I get through this fight? The moment it starts I have to jump Rhatigan or he pulls the levers, but then there's that STUPID bronto who one-shots Bethany or Varric. Please help!

Hmm.. Try instant crowd control on Rhatigan coupled with bailing your party out of the trap area. Winter's Grasp or Petrify should do the trick (and maybe setup a CCC for varric if you're lucky). If you have another mage available (e.g. mage hawke or anders) you can try to crowd control the bronto as well.

If you tell me what class your hawke is I can probably give you more specific advice...
Basically, mage hawkes can pull of the abyss + grav ring most of the archers- which coupled with firestorms and tempests should make short work of them. Otherwise rushing your hawke up there to kill them all before they inflict too much damage on your more fragile companions can work.

At the same time your companions should be using fire damage against the bronto (it's really weak to it) and doing the standard mixture of setting up CCCs and letting them off on Rhatigan (e.g. pinning shot+stone fist or brittle+archer's lance). If you're party isn't standing on the trap area he's not that much of a threat- killing the bronto becomes more of a priority.

Good luck - go own that ugly dwarf! :P

aggressive behavior, + hold.
keep eye on Wanka(the bronto).

send your toughest character up the ramp and directly past the carta snipers, flip the switch on your right hand side as you reach railing directly opposite the ramp you just came up. it will kill all the carta snipers. (on NM you have to do it twice)

Learn where the traps are and move out of them to begin with.
use fire on the bronto while watching where he goes. (42 magic, Staff of Parlathan = Fireball does 1000 @lvl13)Ele Mastery
dispel on Rhatigan.
Pause often.
Move well
Summon Dog.

If someone dies, just keep going.

Ok, some specifics. I'm playing on Nightmare. My Hawke is a bow Rogue with talents mostly in Assassin, Shadow, Subterfuge and Specialist. My party consists of the following:

Aveline
Varric: Marksman, Scoundrel, Sabotage
Bethany: Heal, Entropy, Elemental (no Firestorm cos it's Nightmare)

I don't have a lot of fire attacks - only Bethany's fireball, which has friendly fire issues.

When the fight begins, Rhatigan goes for one of the levers. I've tried pulling everyone back to near the closed gate, but then the bronto goes in and one-shots Bethany, Hawke or Varric. If I take focus fire off Rhatigan even a second he goes and pulls the second lever and turns my party into sashimi. I simply can't manage both Rhatigan and the bronto at the same time. Bethany has Horror but it doesn't last long enough to kill Rhatigan before the bronto starts messing me up again.

Run up to Rhatigan and the bronco and decoy. Run up the stairs to the trap and kill all the archers. Let Aveline tank the Bronco and you tank Rhatigan (his damage should be easy to avoid). Do you need more than that?

Have everyone run up the stairs brontos don't do stairs they're like daleks, flip switch a couple of times and archers are down, beat the dwarf he seems to handle stairs fine despite his small legs and then beat bronto poor bronto just sits and watches.

That's a ramp. And yeah, Wanka will charge up it.

I've only had it stand still and do nothing when I go up the ramp / stairs whatever.

Regardless getting up there and taking out the archers with the trap is priority number 1, especially if you're running a tankless party.

Ok, thanks for all the advice guys. Yeah, once I realized that the bronto can't ascend the ramp it was child's play with all the ranged attackers in my party.

Another thing - I had to repeat the fight once more when I realized that because I hadn't taken any Archery talents, the Hawke's Key defaulted to a dagger! D'oh! So I had to reload, go back to Kirkwall for a Maker's Sigh and respec with a token point in Archery.
