I am down to my last three achievement/trophy challenges:
Supplier (a daunting task!)
Siding with Templars (have it figured out)
and Family Outing --
I understand that I must take Carver or Bethany through the rigors of Legacy --
and some people suggest doing this early, upon arrival in Kirkwall.
On one of my playthroughs I planned to take Carver as soon as we returned from the Deep Roads
expedition (wanted to level up some more) ---- but the game had other ideas!
(It may be called a "role-playing game" but DA2 is always more in charge than I am. Losing one relative
may be acceptable but losing one's entire family, for unconvincing reasons, is excessive.)
My question is: do the challenges in Legacy level up and down to meet the status of one's team?
If I tackle it early, will the final boss be unbeatable?
One further question: in every single playthrough I have done, Carver survives the Prologue,
Bethany doesn't. I have not figured out why that is.
Would like to have some advice, so I will know what to anticipate.... rather than find out
the hard way that I have made the wrong choice initially.
Legacy's Family Outing: advice requested

Legacy scales with the player, so you don't have to worry about when you do it. And you must be playing a mage in every playthrough, because class determines which sibling survives the prologue. If Hawke is a warrior or rogue, Bethany will survive.
Also, you can have Hawke's sibling survive the deep roads expedition if you take Anders.

Thanks for those insights. It would not have occurred to me that i needed Anders to save Carver --- inasmuch as this was my "Unstoppable" run-through (successful). Carver was not knocked unconscious... so I thought we were fine until Fate stepped in.
Also was not aware of the hidden Hawke/Bethany rule...

I've completed Legacy three times, my most recent being in act 1. Maybe it is just me, but I found that easier than the ones I did post-game.
The reason for Bethany/Carver survival is that they wanted to make sure one of the Hawke family is a mage.

Trying to do the final battle in Legacy with Carver (the team is level 11) --- but I think i have to go back and pump up the fire resistance runes for the entire team. I've set Varric to ranged, Aveline and Carver to cautious; but it isn't helping. Everyone has about 200 constitution. Yet Aveline is dying within the first minute! (She's programmed to use health, stamina and restoration potions at the 50% mark.)
These have been my worst rounds --- when i was a post-Act 3, level 22 -- i didn't find it all that difficult. Got some figuring out to do, apparently --- i'm a long way from prevailing in this battle with my current team.

changed my battle tactics considerably --- (didn't bother returning to Kirkwall for fire resistance runes) and managed to get the achievement/trophy. Just Carver and me at the end....
a lot of work for 15 points.

I did it as soon as I got to Kirkwall and it worked. Then also what do you mean it isn't working in act 2?
