What if Ashley is Jewish?

Her religion is something I never objected to nor did I judge her any differently because of it. What it is specifically is not going to change the way Commander V-rex Shepard feels about her.

Some do believe, most do not. The classic joke about Jews very much holds true on this: For every hundred Jews, you'll get one hundred and one opinions.
As for names, I grew up with Jews named Richardson, Baptists named Benjamin and Cone and Episcopalians named Fogel.
I have a maternal cousin who is a rabbi. My mother is the daughter of an Episcopal priest. My brother is a baptist. Just because your religious background is x, doesn't necessarily mean that is what you practice or believe.
Also, just because someone mentions their father viewing their actions from beyond the grave doesn't necessarily mean they believe in an afterlife. Just yesterday an atheist friend of mine said something similar. My friend definitely does not believe in an afterlife.

Then after all the hate and discrimination the people of the Jewish faith have suffered over the millennia, it simply makes her a damned hypocrite.
Why? Because she's a xenophobe?

It says a lot about this forum that people don't care what religion she is but they do care about the catsuit.
well - it doesn't matter which religion it is, since it doesn't change her personality any. one know she has faith in god. defining specific god changes nothing.
catduit though? worn by a no nonsence, practicaly woman who actualy said verbatim that she prefers nice thick armor? that's a bit more of a "huh" moment . especialy when one conciders the collector's edition recolor that strongly, very strongly suggests that its her default fightning outfit, seeing as the alternate designs for other characters are more of an armored variety.
about available tech. its only available to specific human women then? cause you know, male characters seemed to be armored to the teeth, as well as asari spectres.

I find the red text uncomfortable to read. Other than that, I also am indifferent about what religion she practices. It's nice that it gives the character comfort and also nice that she doesn't force it down anyone's throat.

While characters don't push religion (or lack thereof) in my Shepards' eyes like they do with their catsuits I don't really careFiddles_stix wrote...

You misunderstand Dawkins. All he claims is that religious dogma should be judged plausible or not according to the same standards as other claims, and that religion should not get special treatment and special "respect" everywhere in society.Dasher1010 wrote...
I'm surprised at how positive this thread is. So many people hate Ash for being a "Christian" just because she has some sort of unspecified religious views. I was expecting the angry Richard Dawkins fans to come out of the woodwork.
As for Ashley, I like her. I am an atheist. Yes, I dislike religion. But I don't dislike people because of their religion, as long they don't try to push it on me, claim that my soul is damned or try to indoctrinate children with their beliefs. Ashley is very careful with her statements, you really have to draw it out of her. I always found the level of hate aimed at Ashley for that by some people unreasonable and petty.
Why the hell can't I like a character like Ashley for her great personality and other admirable traits, even while disgreeing with her beliefs? Why do people expect me to behave like a jerk, barging in with a statement like "It's all bullsh*t" when Ashley is clearly vulnerable. Every worldview has its fundamentalists, but as a rule they're not the majority.

All we know is that she beleives in some sort of deity and EVERYONE calls her a Christian. What if in ME3, she's a Jew? Or if she's a HIndu, Pagan, Muslim, etc?
Not a big deal. Now, the fact that she's apparently monotheistic rules out Hindu and every pagan faith I know of. She's probably a Christian, Jew, or Muslim, and the devs left it open enough for the player to make their own assumption.
Speaking for myself, I always just assumed she was catholic. She has a somewhat hispanic appearance, and the hispanic / latin countries trend heavily towards catholicism. But that's just my own game as I played it, she could still easily be one of the other two.

Why? Why not? At least it's more interesting than if she was Christian. Also, I imagine that most religious faith that still exists in a world where faster than light space travel is common place and you can have a conversation with an extra terrestrial being will be the last few holdovers left from some of the more dogmatic practices today.

The idea that the existence of alien life has any impact on Christian theology is, well, kind of ridiculous.
