Okay, I'm trying to hit Level 60 for the achievement.  I just picked a random Shepard that I'd already completed, not realizing how down-to-the-wire the XP can get if you aren't careful.  She was at level 47 when I imported her.  I'm on Ilos now at level 59 and I really doubt I can hit 60, since I still have about 150,000 XP to go.  <_<  Apparently, I will have to start a third playthrough with this Shepard to get those last few points.

What I do not want to do is have to play through the main campaign and all the major side quests with this character a third time in order to have a completionist import for ME2.  Now, I know that each Shepard seems to have a single import file, as in you can't pick and choose saves to import (on the Xbox 360, at least).  So it seems like if I start a third game with the same Shep to hit level 60, I will have to play the entire game over again to have a complete-feeling import.

So my question is: can I start a new game in ME1, play until I get the last few XP I need to unlock the level 60 achievement, and then delete those saves so that my level 59 Shep is the one that will be imported to ME2?  Or will the import somehow read the NG++ anyway?

Bleh, I hope that made sense.

No, you can't...sorry.....it sux don't it....I had to do that once also, starting a third game at level 59, was not happy.

But if you have the DLC's and get out of the Mako at every given opportunity, you can actually clear a level 60 from a brand new play through in two games...the first game of course leveling at 50....I found this out when my XBox red ringed and I lost everything, so had to do the whole lot again.

Ah, the joys of being a completionist. At level 50 you can just barely reach level 60 by killing EVERYTHING outside the mako. And grab every mineral, Which is why I don't play ME1 that often.

Each complete pass will create a different end game save. So if you completed the game five times with the same Shep, you'd have five end game saves for that Shep. You can pick which to import.

During the Battle of the Citadel, you can try to milk the Geth Destroyers on the Corridors and maybe extend the fight a little bit by waiting to activate the Defense Turrets and then just activate one, at the Geth Dropship bottleneck.

I have also blasted the Geth Turrets then taken the Corridor full of Krogan to get as much exp as possible also.

This wiki entry has helped me max experience without resorting to cheating, and there is the following section on some exploits for the future too: http://masseffect.wi...zing_Experience

Theres a cheat you can kinda use if your just starting off. I did this when I got PC ME.

Before you start your first game, go download a completed save from Mass effect saves website.
Load that game then do a new game + so you have all the bonus achivements and higher difficulty (Namely the +exp achivements) this can ensure your 50+ on your first run through since your not capped and significantly helps doing 60 in two runs.

You can make your own custom shepard still and everything.

You really don't gain a huge bonus with a level 60 versus level 59 into ME2. It is around 2 levels and maybe a few other points but not major. If you really don't want to do the third, and you have hit everything like you want just do the import and play on, and maybe come back later and do the run to 60.

As another note, once you hit 60, and max money you don't get anything for killing things in ME1. This means you can basically drive right on by enemies that aren't mission critical, like all the turrets on the Noveria mission and even all the outside geth. IF it doesn't have to die, and will not be able to kill you, then you can skip it. This allows you to complete a game in 6-9 hours and still do most/all the missions even the side ones, except for the collection quests.

I find the bonus invaluable for casters like adept or the engineer though. The engineer is really weak until it has a point in incinerate and a CC power (cryo or neural shock). When he does it's smooth sailing.

Here's how I played ME1
Casual all quests -> Casual majority only -> Hardcore majority only -> Insanity main quests only -> Casual all quests.
Why rush to play the second game ?
