Every time I leave DA2 I get a "blue screen" (alt+tabing or exiting the game), a serious error warning, and the computer reboots. Windows XP, Geforce 9600GT, diver 270.61, patch 1.03.
Something I could do about it? Not in the mood to keep playing this game until this gets fixed (and the mouse not moving the camera thing).
Thanks.

Allowing a PC to reboot itself willy-nilly without examining the error message is the stupid Microsoft default, not the smart game-player strategy. Change that right away. Then, complete a normal problem report, as described in the sticky message on top.

Oh, no. Are you following every single person or thread to try to impose your way of dealing with problems? If you are not going to help, just don´t say anything. Thanks.

An error message and details of your hardware and software config are essential to any kind of decent tech help. Without these things it would just be a WAG(Wild ****ED GUESS) and mostly useless. There is a nice thread in just about any tech forum telling the person ASKING for help what kind of info is needed to be able to receive that help. If you want to ignore it, or want us to just WAG, then say so and we will either ignore your post or WAG if you want.

Have you scanned or check your computer for virus? I ask this just cause one might be using it as a cover. I wouldn;t be surprised if one virus was able too. Another thing is what level are the graphics set at? I had the same problem with DAO at times. When I changed the level of detail of graphics it didn;t happen as much. Also check to see if video card and driver are up to date.

how much ram do you have? i recently upgraded mine to 8gb total (granted thats with windows 7 and you have XP) after i had multiple BSOD issues. fixed my problems anyway.

I've had the odd BSOD with a similar set up (I have the 9800 rather than the 9600) so it could be a case of the hardware being not entirely 100% adequate for the software. Of course, XP can't make use of more RAM so I don't think putting more in will do diddly squat.
Updating drivers also not a good idea since the later drivers don't play nice with DA2.
I always check the event log but so far, none of the codes have come up with anything useful. It's a three year old PC but did get a clean Windows reinstall last Christmas, and it's virus checked regularly.
Last one I got was 0x10000007e,

Just want to fill in the info that it's extremely unlikely, to put it mildly, that this is caused by DA2. DA2 is seemingly an element in triggering it, yes, but the real problem likely lies elsewhere.
When these kinds of problems occur, statistically the graphics driver is very often involved.
But there could be some hardware issue involved as well. It happens every time you say. hmm, Is that regardless for how long you've played the game? Like if you leave basically immediateIy, do you still get BSOD? If you built that PC yourself then you should have some MB monitor utility. Run that during the game and go to Windows screen and check voltages and temps while you run the game. Let it draw timegraphs if it does that.
Then I'd try a different graphics driver, older or newer, just for the hell of it. And I'd first completely uninstall the old and reboot first.

Thanks everyone. I tried some things described here. So far, no luck. Still get the BSOD, and just with this game. And in any situation. Leaving the game having played for hours, or leaving it just after loading it. Still hoping that a new driver or game update will fix it. Again, thanks.

Are you running in dx mode 11? Try 9 instead.
