The fact that someone is able to smash through a window of a starship (not your avarage home or car window) while in space tells me this is just that, a piece of concept art. Something that's not meant to reflect an actual story point. But if this does happen in game, that guy better not damage my model ships or it's garbage compactor before he leaves through an airlock.

Actually, they did those concepts because the story had bits that took place in the inhabited mining facility. So, yeah, they can, have, and will cut plot elements too.
