Do you want an "ancient evil" for the next ME game?

Do you think the next ME games after ME3 kills the reapers will be as exciting if the story is about the races we know, political struggles, genetic experiments, full intergalactic wars and fighting races with the same level of advancement as salarians, turians, etc?

Or is for you part of the charm of ME the expectation of an unknown superadvanced evil, organic or synthetic, who is infinitely superior in tech and with unknown motives?

would you like the next ME game to present more galactic thriller storylines or do you want to fight a frightening unknown threat that nobody seems to have a chance against?

Fighting a greater, more sinister threat would demean Shepard's recent accomplishments.

I would rather see a game where you play as a spectre post ME3 whose job is to ensure galactic stability in a period of intense political strife and changing power balances.

Well the Reapers tend to fit that descreption pretty well.  I'd prefer if it ended with ME3 (depending on what happens) and make spin-offs focusing on events that happened before the ME1 storyline.  Like the Rachni Wars, Krogan Rebellions, etc.  Even stuff before that - Being a Prothean, who knows.  They have a really interesting galaxy already, so there are many variables.

No. The thing is, the ME universe is big enough that it doesn't need to pull a Halo 4 style plot. All it needs is expand upon the current content of it's universe. Pirates, merc leaders, rogue Spectres, rogue bounty hunters, corrupt cops, battle masters, corrupt politicians, etc etc are all great evils.

Having yet another ancient race of machines or plants or whatever in gods name you can think up for dramatic effect just comes off as forced. And truthfully, they don't make for the best villians. Saren and Vasir are great villains, because they are relatable and personal.

No, as it's been done to death. I'd rather a new enemy be another nation (but not blatantly evil) that looks to annex the galaxy to it's territory.

I have an idea for this.

A political plot would be really fun. As long as it's a good one (read: not DA2).

nah, i'd rather have it be something like a council race civil war or something. it could be alot more interesting, especially if you could actually pick sides and change things in a greater way.

ancient evil crap is fairly boring.

like for example, the least interesting thing in dragon age, is the darkspawn.

How about story of a:
- Krogan Rebellion who fights for his freedom and clan.
- Salarian who works in STG
- Turian soldier in The First Contact War
- Asari who would like to become Justicar
- Quarian on his/her Pilgrimage
Or anything else that doesnt include "evil taking over the world (galaxy)".

Darkspawn are pretty much your average evil, mindless yobbos, yeah, but Reapers are like friggin' CTHULHU in friggin' SPACE.

I'd rather have a political plot in a new game than more ancient evils, although I'd rather Bioware put the series to rest with a final, masterful ending and then have the team work on a modern-day political thriller-game or something, at least something different from a fantasy or sci-fi RPG, for a while. Either that or a remake of Baldur's Gate.

No thanks.

I'd rather have some origin stories.

You could always have another Rachni Wars type scenario: hostile race from unexplored portion of galaxy followed the local portion of the relay network to Citadel Space and didn't like who they found there. Maybe even make it a coalition of races, like a hostile version of the Council.

Galactic civil war as everyone scrambles to pick up as much Reaper tech as possible.

No. Introduce new major threat, but one that gets born out of Reapers-free world. Ancient evil's been done now in this franchise.

Assuming the Reaper subplot is wrapped up by the end of ME3, no, I do not. I would prefer something refreshing and different, even if it is marginally connected with past events regarding the Reapers.

Technically couldn't you define the Reapers as an ancient evil?

Except not. More like the world wars in our history....everyone against each other in a tangled web of politics and maneuvering to establish a new order as Reaper technology radically alters the balance of power in the galaxy (like petroleum & industrialization in the world wars)

Ah, yes.  Mass Effect games after Mass Effect 3.  We have dismissed those claims.

I think the opportunity to make an MMO on ME is too good to pass up.

That said,I wouldn't mind more game about post reapers, but an ancient evil after an ancient evil would just be stupid.

Nah...one 'ancient evil' was enough...
There's enough in the galaxy to create a good story and a nice new conflict...
How about the Yahg?
