The title speaks for itself. I made this thread because I haven't seen this one up yet.

I'll give mine:

Final Fantasy XIII

OMG you hate final fantasy XIII too?!

It ruined what they had going with Final Fantasy XII, if you ask me.

It's like the franchize degenerated.

"Guise i got an idea automatic combat that looks turnbased and static, with out of map combatencounters"
"Vary original, let's add lots of fanservice and horrible plot"
"k"

I loved the FFXII settings, the grinding was optional, yet fun. I have a near 1000 hours of gameplay on it, would be more if the game didn't kill my PS2

I liked the persistant world combat, it certainly added a different feel to the game for someone who has played all the FF games up untill now, not to mention about 80% of the JRPG released in the west.

It was nowhere near flawless (the upgrade system worked in blind choices, you basicaly needed to print a pic to know what you would upgrade next.

But the overall presentation, the hunts, optional espers and slightly less linear style made it original.

for me the  final fantasy series started to go down when they started putting the real time based combt in it it just didn't give me time to plan at all i liked final fantasy X because i could fricking think on what skill i was gonna use not get hit like 50 times while deciding what skill im going to use

There's only really 3 RPG games that come to mind as being so boring or broken that they weren't worth playing:

Icewind Dale
Oblivion
Dragon Age 2

Of course some of the games I loved as a teenager would have aged so poorly that I wouldn't be able to  play them now. I doubt I would enjoy the Bard's Tale series or Temple of Apshai series now.

What are you smoking?

Oblivion was what got me into TES games. That is by far one of my most favorite games ever.

The Last Remnant. I wanted to get into it, I really did but I just couldn't.

Fable Anniversary. I never had an opportunity to play the original Fable and I had high hopes for this title. All that time and money spent updating it for the 360 and it still felt like PS2/Xbox game, actually I take it back, there are PS1/n64 games that have aged better than this piece of crap. I know Lionhead did not want to change FA to much, that grey wanted preserve what fans loved about the original game but surely it possible to update and modernise a game with out changing it to much.

Mass Effect 3. A good TPS, a mediocre rpg. Combat Great. Classes well balanced. Skill trees great. Decent selection of weapons. Main storyline missions engaging enough. Everything else sucks. Where I felt let down by ME3 is that the stuff in between all the shooting wasn't up to scratch. Exploration was meh. Interacting with npc's was meh. Interacting with squad mates was meh. Side missions and their execution was meh. Quality of dialogue was good but the way it was delivered was meh.

Dragon Age 2 - terribly paced story, unnecessary frame narrative, unfocused plot, underwhelming protagonist, emotionally telegraphed supporting cast

I'm pretty good about staying away from bad RPGs, but Eternal Sonata, FInal Fantasy IV, Suikoden Tactics, Final Fantasy X, and Dragon Quest VIII are all pretty high up on the did not enjoy list. Final Fantasy XIII had a Mount Rushmore-bad story but I enjoyed the gameplay and music, so I can't really count it.

FFX and DQ8's battle systems were just completely uninteresting to me, versions of turn-based that were too basic and uninvolving. I generally prefer real-time systems, and if an RPG is going turn-based it needs a wrinkle or hook to make it unique (such as the Judgment Wheel in Shadow Hearts or job system in Final Fantasy Tactics).

Eternal Sonata is just a mess. The story is atrocious; one of those that the dev had to release a book after the fact explaining events because they were too incompetent to tell a complete story in the game. Dialogue is the worst of the generic worst. Halfway through the game you realize someone is a traitor to another country on which you are about to declare war, and immediately every one forgives her because "she had good intentions." Excuse me? That's just about as patronizing and shallow a message you can send. The battle system had potential as a Tri-Ace baby but several of the components weren't properly executed.

Final Fantasy IV hasn't aged well to me. The combat is primitive and the encounter rate is far too high (this is one of those things I've become intolerant of as I've aged. I just can't deal with the BS of random battles every 4 steps. This also led to me just you-tubing most of FF6 post-apocalypse).

Fallout 3 - Bad story, bad combat, at the end you are forced to side with the Brotherhood faction no matter what.

Risen -  I found it very boring.

Witcher - I heard that this game gets better after the first two chapters, but I couldn't get into it. Terrible combat, bad voice acting, unlikable characters put me off from continuing it.

Fable: Lost Chapters - Didn't like the story, gameplay was meh. Also that goddamn Guildmaster "Your health is low. Do you have any potions? Or food?".

Oblivion - Boring story, bad combat, boring copy/paste world and awful leveling system.

Skyrim - Choices mean nothing, NPC's are lifeless and don't care at all. Not to mention that the story is paper-thin.

Telltale's Walking Dead - *raises flame shield* Yes, the story and characters are great, but the choices don't matter at all. And that is what ruined the experience for me. Not sure if I'll bother with season 2.

The Witcher 1 & 2. As a lot of people do like them, I guess they're not really bad but simply not my thing :3

Not too fond of JRPGs either

Skyrim. I won't say it had a crappy story, because that would imply that it even had a story. Which it doesn't. It had reused voices, reused character models. Vanilla game doesn't look all that good. Any choice you attempted to make meant nothing. It's riddled with glitches and bugs. Just all around not a good game.

Oblivion. Horrifying potato-sack character models, dull gameplay. Bad leveling, hideous environment. Reused everything.

KOTOR 1. Hated it. As an avid Star-Wars-loving freak, I hated it for multiple reasons.

All I can think of ATM. I don't dislike many games.

Two Worlds-The only thing it actually do well is making you want to throw it in the trashcan.

Dungeon Siege 3- terrible sequel with even worse combat, story, voice acting and a super generic world.

Gothic IV- prime example of how you butcher a serie, does nothing well !

Rise of the argonauts- how can a developer make some so disgusting.

Fable 3- Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad story, characters, generic setting and just goddamn boring.

Dragon Age 2, terrible and boring characters, yet another generic setting, boring combat, ugly, reused environment, cities feels empty and a underwhelming story.

Final Fantasy X-2

Final Fantasy XIII (This game has quite possibly the worst roster of characters in any video game EVER)

Dragon age 2

Not only are they the worst RPGs I have ever played, they are 3 of the worst games full stop that  I have played.

Personally all the RPGs I have played have had their merits. In fact I've completed almost all of them.  Some have been disappointing, but have had redeeming features.  My example of which is:

Kingdom of Amalur

What this game tries to achieve in its scope, its lore and style should really appeal to me.  The concept of Chakrams as weapons was really cool. Having the ability to change class fit so well into the lore was great. It was vast and had so many activities. Putting aside the fact the studio itself collapsed (also that it was originally designed as an MMO) there were so many fundamental failures. In the end playing became a chore.  The quests were the same, build up always became anti-climatic. Its possibly the only RPG that I have never finished.

If you skip all the cutscenes it's one of the funnest FFs ever made, though.

I'd probably have to go with one of the Fable sequels.

I also can't really get into most JRPGs.

Word. So glad I only rented that piece of garbage.

To add on to my dislike of Two Worlds, Too Human. Did not enjoy that game. So much so that I took it back to the store a few hours after I bought it.
