Its possibly the only RPG that I have never finished.

Wish I had never finished Arkania Gothic 4.

I kept hoping it was going to get better, and next thing I knew, I had wasted 40 hours on it.

Well its nice to hear your well constructed opinion.

Speaking of worst RPGs Final Fantasy X and X-2 are on ps+ for 40 Euro, I'd buy Final Fantasy X in a second, but I refuse to pay an extra 20 quid for the crappy X-2 why could they give us the option of buying them separate.

Dragon's Dogma, the story managed to make me completely disinterested in the first 5 minutes, got my interest at the character creation screen, then quickly lost my interest once more. Map system sucked, having companions is almost pointless, the sidequests were all way more difficult then they should have been thanks to having no way of telling where you're suppose to go or who you're suppose to talk to, and over all the look of the game was just blegh.

The title speaks for itself. I made this thread because I haven't seen this one up yet.

I'll give mine:

Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy X-2
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy VII
Resonance of Fate
Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Dragon Age: Origins
Divinity II: Eco Draconis
Too Human

Although I agree with most of these, I think it's kind of weird to add DA:O to that list. Not sure how most others feel, but DA:O was an amazing game. Although the story was predictable, there were some nice elements. :C

My absolute least favorite RPGs have always been the entire FF series. I have hated them since I was young and tried to get into the new ones. Still hate them. And the money grubbing MMO they decided to waste time developing was trash as well. It had potential too.

ME3.

As an RPG it could barley be called that given that most of its dialogue was auto-dialogue. The plot doesn't affect its status as an RPG though, so I'm not using that as a way to rank it.

Eternal Sonata really annoyed me, partially because of how badly I wanted to like it (I really tried!) and just how terrible the plot was. I didn't mind the gameplay and combat, I think I mostly enjoyed that, but the story and characters were generic, cheesy, poorly written, poorly executed and way too preachy. Probably the single most self-indulgent and pretentious story from any medium I have forced myself to sit through.

Wild Arms. Just slow and dull in my view. Didn't care for the characters or the battle system.

The RPG I enjoyed the least would be Fallout 2. I enjoyed the first more for the roleplaying, but the combat has always been a frustration for me. In the sequel, trying to get anywhere on the world map will involve a plethora of random encounters. There was enough backtracking in the game(Especially Vault City) to make me tear my hair out.
Spoiler

I could almost say the same for Arcanum as well, but there were tricks in the game to make it pretty easy to breeze through.

Dragon's Dogma, the story managed to make me completely disinterested in the first 5 minutes, got my interest at the character creation screen

Capcom games and storyline. They'll never really mix. :P Capcom is great at action, but I can't say the same for everything else.

Witcher 2. Those controls for the Xbox 360 was too much. But i will give Witcher 3 i try.

Final Fantasy 8. That game made me hate JRPGs forever.

Worst? Couldn't possibly remember. Like most all here, I stop playing a genuinely bad game almost immediately. Avoiding them entirely is easy enough in first place. Most disappointing RPGs is another matter. They are far worse than genuine honest to god bad games:p

Dragon Age 2

NWN 2 < - This one frustrating more than disappointing; There'd be a great game there, certainly by Mask of the Betrayer. Just that terrible UI keeps you from playing it.

Throne of Bhaal for BG 2. Awesome ending. If we use word " Ending " in most literal sense possible; stuff that happens after last fight is way cool. Up until that point, story is frustrating as all hell.

It puzzles&bothers me how amount of pre-recorded, voice acted dialogue options available seems to be the deciding factor for whether or not game is an RPG.

...That said I don't really consider ME3 an RPG either. It is LMSDSMHR-IoGoWF.  (=Little More Story Driven, Significantly More Heterosexual re-imagining of Gears of War Franchise.)

In general I think video games have evolved so much since last time " RPG" could be defined in any accurate fashion that most all times it is used to brand a game are either inaccurate or meaningless.

The first thing that'll forever spring to my mind when I hear the term "RPG" will be Final Fantasy VII, so yeah, I'm basically screwed out of ever participating in that debate on a Western-focused gaming forum.

Xenosaga II

As a whole I enjoyed the Xenosaga trilogy. I can definitely see why XS2 would end up on some peoples list for worst RPG though.

I actually had a lot of fun with the combat in XS2 personally, in particular seeing how high I could get the combos going. I was kind of happy when I was able to beat the final boss without him receiving any actual turns because of cheap combo strings

So... the term "RPG" will become obsolete and will stop being used as an unnecessary badge of honor? Awesome.
