Is there any penalty to using the maker's sigh in this game (other than the cost in coin)? I remember the thing that did the same job in Awakening actually gave you less points than you had before.

I'm not aware of any penalty. I had to use it in one playthrough (the pre-patch Isabela bug), and I had the same amount of points and such, post consumption.

as of patch 1.03 Maker's sigh bugs include:
The ability to prevent the Sunder bug with any 2h weapon users.
Sunder bug = negatives to your critical chance.
Every time Sebastion uses one, he gains an ability point.

It really just ends up as a way to cheat, always has been. it affected all characters that way originally. It really only bothers those that are are looking for a challenge.

Could you detail how to prevent the Sunder bug for me? Please?
I can't use Maker's Sigh on Fenris because I gave him Sunder, and if I do he ends up with -9% critical chance because Sunder doesn't actually add critical chance as I know you're aware
If there is a way to fix it I'd be very grateful if you told me
