I've recently upgraded my pc

i7 2600 Sandy Bridge
8 GB DDR
Nvidia GTX 550 Ti
2 SATA3 HDs in RAID 0

So, when I load a save game it takes almost 18 seconds....
I don't remember how much it took with my previous pc so I can't really compare, but I don't "feel" that's any faster. Which is really disappointing

Thoughts ? Suggestions ? I take sympathy too xD

How much does it take for you guys ?

Taking a cut out of load times requires a 64-bit EXE file for the program you're using, otherwise it only knows how to use 2GB of the RAM you have. Thus making anything above that like 6GB+ a bit pointless.

Most games (Like ME2) have no 64-bit executable, however with a little hex editor suite called CFF Explorer you can make your own 64-bit exe for ME2.

As with anything modding related make a copy of the original exe in case of ninja attacks or things going FUBAR.

Just Open the main exe file with CFF Explorer, go to the NT Header then the File Header there you'll see an entry called Characteristics and under the header Meaning it will be labeled Click Here.

When you click on that a new window will open with all the characteristics of the file you want to check off the box called App can handle >2gb addresset then overwrite the old exe with your new large address aware exe and play the game.

Same method works for any game that doesn't have a DRM exe check, Steamworks games for example won't launch if they detect the exe has been changed.

Thanks.

I checked off the "app can handle > 2gb addresset" box (which is a bit counterintuitive) and saved the new .exe

Didn't do any good. Loading a save game takes the same amount of time than before.

Don't know it's relevant, but the windows task manager shows between 800 mb and 900mb for the me2.exe (just like before)

I made a quick read, but it looks that's meant for improving the load times between decks on the Normandy.
Not my issue.
I was refering to the loading time of a save game. 17, 18 isn't that bad when I'm actually playing the game, but it's terrible if I'm tweaking my shep with gibbs.
Thanks anyway.

That fixes all long load times with multi-core processors in any area, not just the Normandy. If you only experience problems when loading a save file then that fix probably wouldn't change anything. No harm in trying, though.

Oh, ok. I'll try it later when I'm home.

Don't know if you have a fresh memory on this, but there's a level on the citadel that always takes an odd amount of time when using the travel thingies. It's the level where the turian merchant is. Going to all the others levels it's almost instantaneous....
