Yesss!! I hope Morrigan returns in DA3 actually along with Aveline so we can kill them both and leave them to rot in a ditch somewhere. Grrrrrrr angst!!!

I wouldn't mind Morrigan as a cameo. As a companion and LI - no, thanks. Even my male Wardens never romanced her.

In a perfect, ideal world, where all of my fangirl dreams become reality, Morrigan would return in her hawt and acerbic-tongued form, and be both party member and LI (available for s/s options of course). But such is the stuff of whimsy. I suspect she will have a role much like Flemeth's in DA2 - bringer of prophecy, bridge between games and lore.

I'll be happy to see her either way, if that's what happens.

If and when we do see Morrigan again motherhood will have mostly like tempered her a bit and she will is mostly like going to a NPC - her active role in the story is kinda done.

I hope to participate in the conflict between Morrigan and Flemeth. So, major role. That would be interesting - especially if she decided to use the baby... somehow.

I hope not. Morrigan is my favourite character from any RPG and I'd hate to see them bring her back completely different (like Anders) with the typical sequel-standard boob job. Games of DA2's quality would just ruin Morrigan. Also, it wouldn't feel right to have her there without the Warden.

I don't think I've posted here since before DA2 was released, but now's as good a time as any to pop in.  And I tend to agree with this:

I think she's too important to be a companion. She can serve a better role as an NPC, much like her mother IMO.

I expect that Morrigan has a large part yet to play in the story, but I think that being able to lug her around as a companion whenever you like would be at odds with that.  At the most, I could see her being a companion for a particular segment of a game (maybe at the end).  Beyond that, I think she'll only appear during key parts of the story.

Morrigan can't return, they removed the approval system. How could she disapprove of everything you do?

^This, and since it hasn't been mentioned here yet, I've got a feeling that Wynne may play a part in future DA games, especially considering shes in David Gaider's new book Asunder

Quite simply, if the new friendship/rivalry system doesn't work with Morrigan, then the friendship/rivalry system has to  change.  ;)

(I'm not sure why I put that smiley 'cause I'm serious.)

I loved Morrigan and the whole OGB storyline, but I seriously can't see how importing that many variations will work. I mean, the import into Awakening was messed up for the Morrigan romance, so combining those wrong plot flags with the inevitable mess ups in the flags from Witch Hunt, and the mess ups from DA:2....if anything was imported, the people who romanced her and had the OGB and went through the Eluvian would probably end up having the game think they killed her, and vice versa.

If Bioware can't do a thorough job on it, and account for Warden's absence etc. in a meaningful manner, without just brushing him aside, then they should leave her alone. And think of the face morphs...poor, poor Zevran.

As long as she doesn't look as hideously bloated as Alistair.

And I get to slap her.

Morrigan obviously still has an important part in the Dragon Age Universe, as the OGB's mother and all, so what if she were to appear as a future party member?

What if there is no OGB?  Does Morrigan's importance drop -87.45%?

I suspect when Morrigan returns she's going to be an NPC, like Flemeth.

I loved that character Morrigan, I romanced her, had the child with her, and went through the mirror with her..............Morrigan, her child have to continue and not just..............here's Hawke!!!! Main reason I pre-ordered da2 in the first place.

If no OGB she sends you along with her mage son to simply help you on your quest or do something else like Flemeth sent Morrigan. If OGB she sends you along with her mage son to help you on your quest much the same, but he doesn't have any particular special powers... for reasons yet to be explained.

She has a baby, and kids are a lot of work. Or she's PO'd at the Warden. Either way, I don't think that she'll be fighting full time any time soon.

Edit: However, if she were to come back, I'd be all for her returning in DA3 as a companion, child be darned. ;)

Morrigan would be great but Leliana would be better, especially considering she can seemingly come back from the dead (not that my Warden killed her anyway).

There's no real plot points against Morrigan coming back, though of course the OGB is not gauranted since half of players probably did not concieve one.

Morrigan = the most awesome character in the DA universe by far.

I hope she comes back as unaltered from DAO as at all possible, because she's quite perfect in DAO.

As for her being a companion in future DA - that would be rather nice, and a major selling point for me personally. As for the potential problem, that a her as a romanceable companion would screw up the Warden+Morrigan romance of DAO with a new protagonist - well just make her romanceable only if the DAO warden was not in romance with her at the end of WH. Problem solved! Or just not make her romanceable at all.

She could easily have left the Warden behind in Eluvian land for whatever reason, or got seperated from him some other way. Easy to fix storywise I'd imagine.

Ofcourse the really great solution would be Warden as possible protagonist - then the problem goes away all together, but sadly the devs do not seem eager to grant us this humble wish :(

Yes, as a romance option, indeed. For a new protagonist.

Also, looking as much unlike the Sacred Ashes Morrigan as is humanly possible.

Sacred Ashes Morrigan is beautiful!

and if you wanted her to not look like SA Morrigan as much as possible, that would result in this:

Image IPB

which IIRC was debunked by a dev, but still...

id rather have the modded version there than the ugly sacred ashes Morrigan

Nah, she seems to be moving towards being a major player, no idea if she'll be up there with Flemeth (seemingly unlikely and she's nowhere near as awesome even though I loved her) but seems like she has something planned atleast.

Wouldn't really enjoy her in the party again, learning all about her again since the protagonist wouldn't know her would be slightly strange aswell. Cameo perhaps, but.. meh. Best part about new protagonists is new people and new places, aside from the overarching folk like Flemeth and the ever great Sandal as an enchanter I just want new things...

If Morrigan appears as NPC, it must be with the warden. If My warden followed her in the witch hunt, that is certainly not to be abandoned. XD

Avaline is pretty annoying.  Although, I dont quite hate her as much as Fenris and Carver.  In order of most annoying to least (as I did for the ME thread lol):

1.) Carver
2.) Fenris
3.) Avaline
