With Romances, I really (really) hope we'll be able to continue talking to characters, who we can romance - but don't want to.

For example - Let's take Miranda. After her Loyalty Mission, (basically) the only conversations that you can have with her are the ones that lead up to the Romance Scene.

What I'm hoping for is that in ME3, I can "shoot down" any unwanted LI offers (politely), but continue to talk to them (such as: after main missions (and "optional" missions/assignments), you may have a conversation with them about the mission (or assignment).)

Now that I think about it, I wouldn't mind hearing more dialogue between Shepard and all the squad members.

Thoughts? Agree/Disagree?

I agree.. After doing the LI in ME2 i kinda wanted to go talk to the others.. see what they had to say.. >.> you know they be watching and all.. but no.. they don't wanna talk to shepard since he got laid..

That said I'd also like more interaction with the LI's it seems like you get into their pants get 1 more convo and that's it >.> no more talking to them.. I thought I could of had some interesting convo's after the LI scene.. but nope.. >.> hit it then quit it i guess >.>

I'm in favor of this. I beleive that every LI should have two seperate branches of dialogue one branch being a romance and the other being a 'friendship' dialogue branch where they talk about things that non-LI members talk about.

And if you shoot down a LI than they should switch to the friendship branch.

I agree. Samara in ME2 would be a good example of the kind of crew dialogue I'd like. To be fair I think Bioware did quite well with it, if you just keep selecting the middle option you usually avoid ninja-mance.

Yes, I do agree. Yet, with everything going on, i'm sure at this moment in time this would seem trivial. Every voice-actor has -many-various, of even one sentence, which would make it even more time consuming.
For personal want? I very much hope this can be integrated somehow. They did such a thing with Mordin, to a minor level. It would be quite, quite awesome if it was followed through, yet, I myself dislike both Kaiden/Ash. So, in other words, there would have to be an alternative to a "nice shut down", yes, they would end up ignoring you and even mayhaps go after your first LI in coldblood, since Bio' have said there is a possibility of squad members killing one another in extreme cases.

If I remember correctly they said that we would be able to have both deeper LI convo's as well as deeper friendship convo's

Agreed!

I'm sick of being blocked just because my Shepard doesn't want to do the horizontal tango.

BW says they're working on a detailed friend dialogue so if you don't want to romance them they won't shut you down more then likely the type of info they will reveal will also be the same info you can learn when you do romance then so no one is left metagaming or in the dark if they don't.

The whole conversation thing in Mass Effect 2 screamed lazy after the loyalty missions. Especially Garrus. Even if you did romance him he had nothing to say.

One thing I'm hoping for with the new romance/friendship dialogue system is that they're not mutually exclusive - if I romance a character, I don't want every conversation afterward with them to be purely romance-based. The "touchy-feely, hot and steamy" is all well and good, but sometimes I just want to just chew the fat with them, you know? Slice of life kinda stuff. There's something sorta weird about a relationship when it's all the couple ever talks about when they're together.

Basically, I'm hoping they'll keep a few friendship dialogues even once you've romanced someone - maybe with an extra line or two on them, but hell, just some sort of blend at all will make me happy. It feels to me like a lot of games implementing romance (not just Bioware's) just toss us onto a "romance train" and jam all the railroad switches, forcing us to ride it until the end.

And for those you do have a LI with, throw some kiss/hug/invite to quarters options in there. I really liked that in DA:O, and you could even do it while on a mission/in town. Just feels rather empty after you hook up or in the case of LOTSB with Liara, she just spouts off "Thank you for stopping by." Or maybe have Kelly give them an outfit and some dance lessons.

Agree with OP. If we take garrus for example, he just keeps calibrating the damn guns if you are male shep. If you are femshep there is romance dialogue. So he could really use some friendship dialogue just like most of the squad.

Thankfully, it's been confirmed a few times that all the squadmates will be given more dialogue, including platonic, non-relationship dialogue. Also more squad interactions.

Mordin too.  His and Samara had the best conversations I think.  Long and didn't blow you off quickly like Garrus.  One talk, boom nothing until  his LM.  What's with that?

I strongly agree. Nothing worse than when characters stop talking to them because Shep isnt putting out.

I got scenario:

What if you pursued the corresponding person who survives Virmire and Liara, but turned down the human. And then, in ME3 start flirting with said human again.

Yeah I really liked talking to Garrus in ME1. Particularly because my main shep, one of his big things is finding Bad People and killing them. Retribution and all that. So Garrus ended up being a pretty significant bro with the Dr. Saleon sideplot and stuff, and talking to him through that whole transformation and friendship was really interesting.

But, oh, hey. Since you can't bang Garrus as MaleShep apparently there's nothing to talk about, ever. SO MANY CALIBRATIONS. It was pretty disappointin'.

I think the problem in ME2 was that there was too many companions and simply not enough time to flesh them out unfortunately.

For example Miranda keeps banging on about being Shepard's Second In Command but she never does anything to warrant being considered that. Jacob acts more like Shepard's second than she does; he is the one that does most of the meet-n-greets of the new crew members, makes sure they know where to go and whatnot.
She is just in her office doing paperwork which I would think would be Yeoman Chambers' job not hers.

It's unfortunate; methinks the ME team was a little overambitious in ME2.
