Greetings. I am aware that a myriad of DLC posts exist, but I have an issue that seems to be a little different then the rest.  I started a character on the origonal PC version (no patches) but I had all the DLC gear that didn't require authorization, plus the Dragon Armor, the Soldiers Peak quest, and Shale's addon. I then bought the PC Dragon Age Ultimate edition. I deleted the old game (keeping my saved files) and installed the UE.  When I loaded my save game to continue, an error messege warned me that I needed to install the DLC gear, or choose a force load.  I was disappointed, thinking the Ultimate edition would have had this gear included, but I pressed on and force loaded.  I am now more than half way through the game. The dragon armor works, and so does all the addon quests.  What I am missing is gear like the Edge and Wicked Oath.  Recently, I found a folder on my desktop with all the DLC content in it in a .zip format.  Clicking on these brought up a Dragon Age DLC loader.  So, apparently the Ultimate edition did have all the DLC, I simply did not know it.  Now, If I start a new character, all the DLC gear is in my inventory.  But my original character still only has the Dragon armor.  I have tried the disable/enable trick.  No change.  The DLC is loaded, and is functional in new characters.  Is there a way to get it loaded into my main characters inventory?

I am also not comfortable with changing game coding, nor trying the beta 1.05 patch (not yet at least).

As your DLC is enabled, the beta patch will not help. Un-installing the missing item DLC (not just disabling), force loading, making a fresh save then re-installing and loading might fix the issue. If it does not, the only option would be to enable the console and use it to spawn the items into your inventory.

Hmmm. This cheat console, does adding it to the game script cause any glitches? It does seem to be the most straight forward way to solve my problem.

The developer console is, exactly as the name implies, the console that the developers used in testing the game. Using that console you can do just about anything from spawning items into your inventory, to killing all enemies in an area, to setting or checking plot flags and marking quests as completed. As such, if you enter the wrong commands you can make a royal mess of your save (though you will not break the game itself). As such, I always recommend making a back-up of the save file just in case things go horribly awry (there is the ever-present danger of a furry critter or a child "helping" me type in my household). That said, spawning an item into your inventory should not cause any issues. I also highly recommend disabling the console once the items have been added to avoid accidental problems. There are extensive instructions on the Dragon Age wiki. The safest method would be the disable ->force load -> save -> re-enable -> load method above, or loading an old save from before the items were lost.
