I've been away from the forums for a few months, since I traded in DA2 back in May, I'd say "A new Direction", especially since the promotion of Mr. Laidlaw to the Creative Director for the franchise. Its nothing personal against Mr. Laidlaw or his team, but his vision is not something I want to continue to shell out money for.

I think we can all agree that the gameplay and recycled environments were the poorest parts of Dragon Age 2.

The best parts were:

The Friendship/Rivalry Meter

The Skills Trees

The Story

The Art Style

The Party Banter

I want to see throwing weapons like in DAL and like they seem to have implemented in MotA. Let's make that a skill tree to make Rogues more interesting!

Also, revamp specializations. DA2 was a step in the right direction, but they should have some plot basis and characters should have only ONE. Bonus points if there can be consequences and/or other characters reacting to the specialization (particularly if Blood Mage or Templar).

I would like to see a game that isn't rushed in 18 months, a game that isn't released before it's done, and most of all, a game that doesn't make me feel like Bioware is deliberately making a cheaper game and counting and the blind faith of the fan base to get away with it.

"What would you like to see in Dragon Age 3?"
Good question.

~ I want to see fully customizable NPCs similar to those found in "Dragon Age: Origins". Gear, clothes, Armor, weapons, etc... Everything the pc is able to use the npc should also be able to use.

~ Crap load of different styled gear, armor, clothes, etc... No 'junk'.

~ Diverse PC species selection and gender customization, and each of their uniquely related origins.

~ Intellectual and meaningful dialogue choices.

~ Realistic graphics.

~ Meaningful romantic heterosexual relationships, and innocent alternative relationship options. No blatant homosexual options. Innocent and meaningful ones.

~ One singing character.

~ Epic world, epic main quest, and unrelated/related side quests.

~ No MMORPG.

I still haven't bought "Dragon Age II". Lol...

I am holding out for something more interesting.

My biggest complaint was the inability to fully customise my party no world map and a lack of RPG depth in general.

The combat in DA3 needs to be more realistic they went to far in the direction of Mass Effect probably hopeing to expand the franchise classic case of ''fix broke it''.

Mass Effect wasn´t that unrealistic considering game lore and shooter mechanics. Most things Shepard can do are justified in game. DA2 however has many combat mechanis that make no sense with the game lore (it also happened in Origins, worst in Awakening, I hope this trend stops for DA3).

About DA3 combat, I hope it gets faster. DA2 had characters moving faster, but combats were longer than Origins and very repetitive (NM player here).

Mass Effect was always an action RPG, DA was not and SHOULD NOT BE an action RPG at least not to the extent of Mass Effect there two different types of games entirly at least they were until DA2. There's a huge difference between a action RPG shooter and a D&D type RPG.

I'm still advocating for a better crafting system and an item trade system.

Can the shapeshifter turn into a werewolf/werebear instead of spider/wolf/bear/larger versions of each?

Compelling, human antagonists that don't inexplicably turn into frothing abominations at the last second because, I don't know, The Import-Into-The-Sequel-Flag Dictates.

I'll have to demand this be played during transformation, in that case.

DA3 must have some Guilds Mage and Thief sideqwests. A full set of stats for armor and weapons. Npc's that teach new ability's or Qwest's that grant new skills. a full set of attribute stats for you and your party to level up as well as gaining new skills and ability's A DEEP DYNAMIC RPG.  A full set of Romance options are also mandatory.

You should have an option to play as your warden or as hawke, with the one you chose not to play as being a companion that you meet up with. With each one having a different prologue. Also, I didn't care for 2 being pretty much a dolled up rail shooter, I like exploring and only have a total of 5 dungeons that you go in about 30 times, and them being so lazy that even though it is supposed to be a different dungeon, they just block off a pathway and leave the map the same. I don't care if the main character is silent as long as they as the characters are more engaging than in the 2nd one.

Most of what you listed is already in the great and superior to Origins DA II.

DA2 just seemed like a dumbed down ME2 with swords and more gear, but less options that actually impacted the storyline.  A lot of background music and even some of the enviroments look eerily similar to some of the ones in ME2.

Wait...what? DA is a fantasy action RPG whereas ME is a sci-fi shooter RPG. How can the envrioments look the same? That's like saying Africa looks similar to Alaska.

Anyway, what I want to see in DA III is the return of custom character builds. At first I was bumbed out that only Rogues could dual wield. Then I was in support of this, since it meant warriors are warrios and so forth. But now I want to be able to make a character any way I want to. Oblivion does it. Why can't Dragon Age?

EDIT: Oh, and bring back the Arcane Warrior!

Look at the textures, especially the wounded coast, even the ambiant music sounds very similar.  Don't get me wrong, I felt like ME2 was a great game, and   DA2 is a good game, but it's too much walking back and forth to complete quests, which interrupts the flow of the game, and then when you get to a dungeon, it's just like every  single other dungeon in the game.   Seriously, couldn't they spend at least a little more time changing the adding at least 2 or 5 more level designs for those?  It wouldn't take up hardly any more memory or time, it's just making a map and moving textures around.  The game just gets too repetitive and boring, and then when compared to DA:O you had a ton of different possible choices that affected the outcome, and in DA2 you basically have 2 different endings and not much that you do affects the outcome of it.   When you play a Bioware game you expect an epic game that you will spend 30+ hours playing the first time and replay it multiple times to try to get all the outcomes.  For some reason DA2 has the least amount of replayability out of any Bioware game I had played before.  So, it would be nice if Bioware went back to what they used to do in their games instead of streamlining everything and dumbing it down.

To be just completely petty and mean spirited I'll say this...

Better looking helmets and shields. I know they're not usually the prettiest things in the world but the shields in DA2 range from boring as sand to ugly as hell. And the helmets tend to be less functional and just weirdly stylized.

Not saying the helmets in Origins were so much better but some helmets in this game are just bad. I love Matt Rhodes and his concept art and style... but get someone else to help with armor. His DA and ME armors tend to look great on paper and terrible in-game.
