I just put a point in Mystical Negation of the Mage tree, but now I'm wondering if it was worth the point since I can't tell if it's working or not. I noticed it didn't dispel the glyph that was put down by an enemy spellcaster or the shield that the enemy put around him. Does anyone know more about how this spell works?

It's a personal effect. Any magical effect that a eneny has in place when entering your personal space will be dispelled-for example, a creature under a Haste spell. A Glyph is cast on a location, not a creature so it wouldn't apply. I'm not sure about a magical shield, it should have been dispelled. It may be the creature with the magical shield was too far away from the field.
