Were I a mage, turning myself into a Circle would never be an option, especially a cesspit like the Gallows. I'd rather live on the run. For a mage, life on the run would not be so bad, since its not like you're really losing anything by doing so. Mages in general really don't have anything to lose anyway. I'd keep drifting from place to place until I found somewhere safe. If found by the templars with no means of escape, I'd go out fighting, and hopefully, take as many ofmy enemy with me as possible.
However, I do not believe blood magic would be necessary, nor would I turn to it, even if desperate. This is because I believe that blood magic is something that she be only attempted by highly expeirenced, well skilled mages, because it is powerful and dangerous. I think that I would be putting myself in the same level of danger I was trying to escape, though that danger would be of a different sort than the templars. Besides, once I was away from the Circle, I'm pretty sure I could pick up and learn alot of new magical abilities or traditions unavailable in the Circle.

Shave my beard, put on some trousers. The Templars will never find me.

Pretty much this.
One of the girls in Grace's group (if you set them free) has enough common sense not to get caught. Too bad the others weren't as smart.

changing your look won't do much if the Templars still have your phylactery. Better make sure you destroy that first.

I thought those were destroyed in the fire?

well yea they were. I'm talking about if a person on here was hypothetically a mage and thought changing their look would be enough.

Were I a mage and I knew my phylactery was destroyed, the first thing I would do is set up a rendezvous point with the others in my group. We separate into groups of two or three, and gradually work our way to the rendezvous, I would have a port city that isn't Kirkwall (simply because that's where we were being taken and we're closest to that city) be where we meet up.
Once there, we wait exactly one week. If the others don't show up, (and this is to be known by all in the group) then we try to earn money and sail to Ferelden and try to earn a living there.
