Real confusing, that line.

I figured an elite assassin would know how to disable a security console, sheesh.

Exactly. But the gypsy known as Tali sure could.

The first time I sent Garrus since he was my tech guy in ME1.

In retrospec I currently have a save where everyone died except Tali and Garrus. I may make that my canon playthrough. I'm very supportive of my friends from ME1 that stuck with me, and didn't call me a cerberus douche or decide there race was more important than the entire galaxy.

I thought I was the only one that did that.....

But instead of save>loading>save>loading I use NG+

Meh, too much work...

It's to compensate for not exactly knowing what the dialogue wheel will lead to.

The final time I do each conversation, it's by choosing all the right dialogue options, all the investigation options in the right order and every single line chosen before the other character finishes their final pre-dialogue wheel sentence.

Makes the games last longer as well; I can spend a entire night with just one or two new missions.

Are you my long lost twin or something? Sometimes this actually gets really inconvenient for me. For example I might think back on a conversation that happened 12+ hours ago and wind up doing a whole new play-through to get it right. When I do my "canon run" every since line needs to be perfect and every conversation has to have the right flow.

In games like Fallout 3, for example, I will wind up abandoning a 70+ hour playthrough because I'll think back on a conversation option I choose early in the game and decide it was out of character.

I lost Miranda my first playthrough and thats it. I replayed with the same character trying to redo it and still saved her. Weird.

Tali is usually in my squad though can't send her....that drone is hella useful for me to sniper kill Collectors.  Garrus usually leads my fire Team though but last playthrough for ****s and giggles I let Mordin lead, he said he'd hol the line.

Tali the tech expert since ME1 can hack security? Imagine that!

Wait.... you killed Miranda and ONLY Miranda on your first playthrough? How did you manage that? Did you side with Jack adn took her with you to fight the reaper, or did she die holding the line?  Bioware played favourites and made it ridiculously hard to kill her.

You figured he could get the job done (and he can), but nothing in his description ever says he's a tech expert. He's stealth and biotics.

The only squadmates I can really understand goofing up on is Miranda and Zaeed. Miranda after all notes many times how powerful her biotics are (as does Jacob) and she even says she can pull off Samara/Morinth/whatever's maneuver. Zaeed of-course is stated to have lots of experience so one would think he could "commandy loyalty through experience". (incidentally for the first team all the dialogue you hear implies his team is doing very well and at the end he charges forward with his men to cover the hacker at the door, but then a moment later in the next frame he and his men disappear and the hacker gets shot)

My first playthrough in me2 was a non-import, so I didn't know too much about the races/etc lol. During the SM, I lost Tali and Jack (both lost loyalty due to disagreements with crew, not being able to paragon past them).

I didn't run into any troubles with the IFF deadline. After the "derelict" Collector ship, I was in no hurry to go find another derelict ship, so I recruited/did any loyalty missions i had left first.

Garrus and Mordin seem like plausible candidates for tech expert.

Garrus? I suppose. His dossier does say he is a noted omni-tool expert. Mordin I can sort of understand people being confused about because he is a scientist, but the game makes it clear his strengths lay in biology, not  mechanical engineering or computers and such.

Um, why?  One's a sniper/ex-cop vigilante, the other's a biologist.  And you'd pick them to hack something why?

And here I thought I was the only idiot who did that. Hug?

Also, Miranda is ironically (and probably intentionally) time and again proven to be wrong with her whole "I'm an excellent judge of character. I think you'll find my assessments to be right on the money.”, while Zaeed isn't as much of a leader as he is a survivor.

Garrus is presented as a sniper and a leader, whereas Mordin is quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology).

Garrus: ME1 tech character

Mordin: SCIENCE!

I lost miranda and zaeed the first time. Didn't have enough paragon to keep their loyalty. I picked everything correctly, they just died holding the line.

First playthrough- Lost Tali (Grunt was second squad lead), Grunt (see previous), and Jack (disloyal, died after killing Pants).

Tali's death made me sad...

Second playthrough- lost Jacob and Miranda. It was... interesting. Think I'll go through ME3 with that one first and see how it plays out.

Garrus is seen in both games working on machinery (Mako in ME1 and his infamous calibrating in ME2) and Mordin is a a quick thinking creative scientist who likes the challenge of limited resources.

I personally didn't choose either of them....... I picked Jacob. LOL

Oh and to answer the thread, I didn't lose anyone. When TIM gave me the derelict Reaper assignment but I wasn't forced to go there immediately (unlike the other assignments from TIM), I knew that would trigger a point of no return and I'd be flushed into the endgame if I went there, so I went around the galaxy and did absolutely everything else possible. Got all upgrades, all loyalty, etc.

He says when he was with the Blue Suns he was succesful in leading the men while Vido ran the books. That he suffers heavy losses in his dangerous operations as a merc doesn't make him any worse than ruthless Shepard.

I see a lot of people did that. why? Miranda said plain as day "you can't do it" and she really knows. And what's with Grunt not being able to take a bullet!? Miranda can and she wears spandex!
