Origin REQUIRED for BF3 will it happen to ME3?

I hope this isn't the plan for future EA games and maybe just a decision they made to be able to do stuff within BF3s Battlelog service easier cause I really don't want to have to run Origin just to have a (currently) single player game running.

Besides that Steam is superior in every way, which is kinda too bad you feel that way cause your missing out on an excellent service.

THANKS FORUM COP!!! BUUUUTTTTT.........
I'm not talking about it not being on Steam I'm talking about it requiring Origin to run no matter where you buy it. Thanks for the pointless heads up though and maybe try reading first, then your further forum investigations into repeat thread crimes may go smoother.

Don't particularly care if ME3 will require Origin - so long as Origin has an offline mode that works precisely like Steam's, where I never need to connect (or have a connection to the internet) so long as I keep Steam in offline mode... as long as Origin has that same system / option, then I don't care... at least not enough to make it a factor in whether or not I buy a game.
I'm not hugely bothered by it either, I do have Need for Speed HP through the EA store. ME3 will be a lot different though as I'm planning on probably hundreds of hours playing it.
It just seems like a real lame attempt to cram Origin down our throats.

What would be the problem? Some games require Steam and I never saw something wrong with it.
Ya but it more has to do with "OK you now have Origin installed players you might as well buy some **** from us too...."
I mean where does it end? An Activision service, a THQ service, god forbid a Ubisoft service? I mean like it or not these thing also take up space, and have a tendancy to update a lot and just grow and grow inside my computer, I have Steam, I don't need a bunch of things like Origin updating, taking up space, putting icons everywhere, starting up when I start my computer etc......

And this would be bad, why? Each of these publishers have a large enough library/portfolio to justify such a thing, and they shouldn't be indebted to Steam if they feel they can do better.

Steam is only "superior" because it's the only thing we've known for the longest time. Time will tell if Origin will match up, but it certainly wont fail from the outset. I'm pretty sure people would crawl through sewers and gut rats to play BF3 and TOR.United_Strafes wrote...

Um ya that's not my point. If I want to go play say BioShock right now, I don't need to go download the 2K store client to do that, and every game besides the Orange Box I have on Steam I don't HAVE to have Steam to play, I can go down to the store and buy it and play it.
And it would be bad because of the reasons I stated above, as far as Steam being superior, your obviously not a Steam user.....Or maybe you are and somehow missed the Holiday and Summer sales......

Selling 3 year old games for $5 doesn't mean I should start slobbering their e-knob. I haven't seen anything special that couldn't possibly be replicated somewhere else.

That's awesome. I'm simply saying that I wouldn't really have a problem if they decided to go that route.

Thats the exact type of thinking that lead to all new version of Windows being more bloated than the previous version.
Faster hardware should not have to make up for poor quality coding.

I think Origin is garbage but those are all terrible points. You don't want it to start up when you launch windows? Get CCleaner. The space Origin takes up is laughable at best.United_Strafes wrote...
Ya? Let me know how? Since you can run Origin without a required update and prevent it from taking up hard drive space, enlighten me please, I want to use your method to open up a whole bunch of space.
You want some real reasons why Origin is garbage? How about that fact that they sell your information and can revoke access to games you paid for?

As for the hard drive footprint, simple: don't download a bunch of stuff with it. I doubt the program itself is so large that it's going to cause problems for any modern drive.

Or I can just check the box so it won't start with Windows, but ya I know Origins is garbage which is why I was planning on buying retail, but that will be pointless if I'm just gonna have to have Origins running to play it anyway.Dionkey wrote...

I'm talking about it dumping crap all over your desktop, auto-updating and bloating itself, running at startup etc. You complained about all that, but then you said you can easily make it not do that, so why complain about it in the first place?

Since you're having trouble reading I'll explain very simply.....
It doesn't matter if Origin is a megabite, it's still there.
Now, come March if Origin IS required to run ME3 this means you must have Origin, you won't be able to run ORIGIN without manditory client updates...............u n d e r s t a n d?
