^That's not possible.

And why would they do that?
They're already way more powerful then most species.
Only reason why would they o that is, well, Shepard wants a Rachni squadmate for some reason.

As for Legion comparison, it's not the same.
Legion has same body type as normal Geth.
Only real visual difference are head flaps and longer antenna on his back.

And reason why Legion can interact with you and everyone else is hardware upgrade that is specifically made to look after Shepard since he/she is responsible for destruction of Nazzara.

For Rachni it's not that simple.
Especially since only Rachni Queen is only sapient Rachni and can interact with organics. And that's only with mind controlling other organic.

If BioWare wants a storywise explanation for including Rachel the rachni they will create one, like they did for Legion. It could work like this for example:
The rachni wants to have a representative with Shepard during the reaper conflict to coordinate things. A larvae form of a rachni queen is selected, trained and equipped for the job. We didn't know anything about the larvae form of a rachni queen but now we do: they have big enough brains to be at least as intelligent as humans plus some practical telepathic skills while being rather small. In fact small enough to ride around in a exoskeleton of human size and human looks (to avoid people freaking out at the sight of her). Some neural implants also makes it able to talk in a standard alien humanoid way. As it have humanoid proportions it can use humanoid weapons and armor.

Or something else, I'm sure professional writers can do this better than me.

I'd prefer an Elcor Squad mate.

Elcor: False Bravado Over Barely Concealed Terror. These husks don't look so tough.

rachni are pretty much mindless drones to be controlled by the hive mind (queen).
doesnt sound like a great squadmate to me.

After all the crap I got from Liara, and the Turian councilor, and the People for the Ethical Treatment of Horrible Space Monsters for commiting "genocide" by dumping a vat of acid on the queen of the intergalactic locusts, I better be expected to tolerate a rachni on the Normandy without recieving some apology letters first.

That's a lot of "pulling out your ass" stuff there for a squadmate from race that can be dead in ME2.

Ah, yes... Rachni. The race of giant insects which threatened the galaxy centuries ago, and were believed eradicated by the Krogan? We have dismissed that claim.

=P

Jokes aside, I saved them, with hope I could see them again as allies against the ones who soured their songs.

also. aside from the TONS of story and lore reasons why it wouldnt work.

from a gameplay and programming perspective, its not really practical. its AI would have to be completely unique. currently all the races use guns, powers, take cover, ect. the rachni would what? sprint at dudes adn claw them up? or are you goin to go the even more stupid route of putting guns on its tentacle claws?

basically, in every way imaginable its a pretty bad idea. plus, in almost all my playthroughs the rachni are gone, they'd have no reason of joining my shepards.

Disscuss?

A bunch of reasons:

1) You can't give it weapons or outfits.
2) You can't talk to it.
3) People will want to f**k it.

This made my day, especially this. :o:lol:
For 2) you can always get an Asari to translate though. :)

Of course I am pulling out of ass, as I said I am not a writer of the ME story so what can I do? It was just an example.

The question is rather this: Do we want rachni in ME3? Do we want more aliens on board? I for one do and therefore I will allow the real writers a lot of artistic freedom if they agree with me and want to try to make a good story out of it.

I think one of the requirements to being a squadmate is to at least somewhat resemble a humanoid. Rachni does not fall into that category. Plus, you'd probably have to have another Asari along to play puppetmaster.

The next suggestion we'll see is a Thorian creeper...or maybe a Klixen or Praetorian? It's getting kinda silly up in here.

Isn't there warrior rachni?
They have
Biotics
Acid
claws
Anyway I don't want a squadmate of one I would prefer blasto.
(Someone mention them as mounts? If shep can climb a ladder now anything is possible.)

Not in ME3. Maybe in a future game.

Sure, a rachni could have shields, armor and guns just like anyone else ( and an acid spit attack), but...

Communication is a major barrier. Seeing as they speak through "color" the universal translator will not cut it. And having a rachni with a small humanoid or hanar strapped to its back to psychic communication would be alittle... odd. Currently, there is no tech to overcome this barrier.

I don't know, being in all Blasto would be hovering above the cover, it would be a bad day for old Blasto lol.

They spit acid. Joker would have a hissy fit if it ate through the hull.  ''I'm not losing another Normandy!'' Waaah! waahhh!

well to bring up the good things the rachni may bring to the table.
1) they could be good against organics, but bad to synthetics.
2) there might be a bipedal queen that we may not know about so that might work as well.
3) for guns, armor, and etc. that's up to the programmers an let me tell you people as a programmer its hard to do that when it looks like the copy-pasted there codes

now onto the bad
1) how could they talk to us if only though others an most do not like rachni in any way or form which would cause problems on the Normandy
2) with the above in mind your squadmates wouldn't want to be near it as well (thats a story problem)
3) it a much harder AI code as well with most of your squad having a humen like brain they can follow your orders but most rachni are drones with no or littlew to know brains so it would be even harder to have one. plus only a queen could have that brain power buit there is still the talking barrier we must past (we could say Cerberus has the tech but they only delt with drones not queens, but binary helix might have something? who knows.
4) it really doesn't seem like it would fit the story maybe they could help you fight as a race to help but what would the renegades story be if they were a squadmate? oh we know there dead so its just an empty space.

so we can see that its just a bad idea to have one but if have gone the good route then it may make the fight a little easier than if you bad but again it could happen but we have no clue whats going to happen in game other than kick some reaper butt

Personally I'd absolutely LOVE to see a rachni squadmate, the sad part is that it'll probably never happen.

Still, if BW decided to bring us the rachni as a squaddie, it could be in some kind of paragon/renegade twist: paragon get the rachni while renegade get some human extremist/xenophobe, or maybe a vorcha?

well that does make since but it still means that all of the vorcha race would join you in ME3 instead of the rachni but i will say what some other one said on here "thats a lot of pulling out of the ass"

Oh no.. This is just one step closer to the ''RACHNI FOR LI!!!'' situation, after which Shepard gets infected by weird virus and grows antenna and bug eyes.

Too large. Imagine having a large bug standing behind you while talking to people. It will take all the focus from my Shepard and get in the way during fights.

well the monolith had the dominate power so that covers the queens power because she can only brainwash organics.
