Should Shepherd have a child?

Whether your Shepherd is male or female, having a relationship with a human or non-human, should he or she have a kid during or after the ME3 story arc?

Who do you want your Shepherd to mate with?

Do you want a boy/ girl or mixed species child?

My Male Shepherd is in a relationship with Liara, so blue babies for me.

Thoughts?

The universe is in grave peril, and you want to think about knocking people up?
No breastfeeding alien hybrids, or babies of any sort for me please in ME3. I'd rather squirt lemon juice in my eyes, and then there's that whole galaxy to save.

I guess Bioware might throw in that wrench, in the course of romancing said significant other during gameplay the male or female Shepherd might make said significant other pregnant or be made pregnant herself. What do the gaming community think?

Fanrage would ensue, since some pairings have viable offspring options, while others don't. Besides, it's a war story, we already have enough romantic sidetracks...

No. A simple romance is enough. We don't have to knock people up and make them useless in battle.

Be nice if some kids actually show up, bit weird that ME is only populated by adults? And how cute would an Asari or Krogan baby be, aww bless.

One of the best 'child of Shepard' things I've ever seen is:

NuclearBuddha's "The Adventures of Raela'Shepard nar Normandy on her Pilgrimage"

No matter how they implement it, it would be akin to masturbating with a cheese grater.
Slightly amusing, but mostly painful.

What if Shepherd was a paragon? He'd be a bit more positive at least. (amusing dialogue Clonedzero)

See, this scenario is only possible if Shepard, the last best hope for the fate of the galaxy, is stupid enough not to use protection when messing around. An epilogue where Shepard settles down with someone and years later forms a family - sure, though that would be cheesy. Anything else would be too awkward and nonsensical to contemplate.

Kosh would probably say...

The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to procreate.

I wouldn't want to see any hint of children anywhere except possibly in the epilogue and even then only if Shep's LI is biologically compatible.

I'm not averse to adoption mind you but not biological children with species that are not biologically compatible.

I wouldn't mind dialog in ME3 [maybe endgame dialog] having a big impact on Shep's personal future.  If he says he just wants to settle down somewhere quiet then maybe he does the family thing.   If Shep makes it clear that there will ALWAYS be more work to do then maybe you see him and his LI on the Normandy 3 or possibly at the head of the joint Citadel Fleet or whatever is appropriate.  There are lots of ways [via choices in ME3] to tailor what happens to Shep.

Note:  The forum "ate" my first reply ... I hope this doesn't come across as a double-post.

yeah ^ this.

I couldn't think of anything I'd like to do less in a game than procreate. :)

A epilogue where we see shep with kids, but not during the struggle, yeah, sure.

I could see this as an epilogue if Shepard survives ME3. Otherwise, not so much. Doesn't come in handy with the story.

Although... Imagine Sheploo carrying around a baby in a bag around his neck. "Watch son, this is how you use a gun. As the son of the great Shepard, it is your fate to save the galaxy from evil at least once. You will then need to use guns, so stop sleeping and watch your daddy kick ass!".

No. Just no.
As others said, I might tolerate it if it is vaguely hinted in the epilogue and only if the player choice favored such an outcome in some way (Shepard's jokey remark to Liara comes to mind).

Does Mordin need to have a talk with Shepard about protection in addition to his normal dialog on LIs?

...actually that'd be hilarious, I'm all for Mordin giving Shepard the talk.

Only in epilogue, only if it's player choice and only from compartible partner or adopted.

The mental picture of femShep charging while having morning sickness is rather disturbing.

Absolutely!

I want to see my very pregnent LadyShepard busting up fools with her vanguard charge and gunning them down with her shotgun, armour riding up over her babybump as she does so.

Shepard: Do you have time to talk?

Mordin: Actually, wanted to talk. Medical matters. Aware of your...stress relieving activities and somewhat concerned.

Shepard: Oh? What do you mean.

Mordin: Ah...difficult dicusssion. Mildly embarassing. Have noticed that despite the frequency of occurance, Normandy's supply of birth control materials still being used at previous rate.

Shepard: Why would I use birth control? Everyone knows you can't get pregnant if you do it in space. That's just a fact.

Mordin: Can see that this discussion will take much longer than previously expected.... Have procured banana as a visual aid.
