Should Shepherd have a child?

Whether your Shepherd is male or female, having a relationship with a human or non-human, should he or she have a kid during or after the ME3 story arc?

Who do you want your Shepherd to mate with?

Do you want a boy/ girl or mixed species child?

My Male Shepherd is in a relationship with Liara, so blue babies for me.

Thoughts?

Aside from Shepard with a human or an Asari..

Would this be the appropriate time to bust out the "That's your opinion" pic?  I mean I know I hate it or saying it in general, but when you're making a statement of absolutes considering the bold.  It's really asking for it.

You sure you want to go down this path with me, son? You're asking for it...

What path would that be, junior? I didn't make a statement of absolutes.

Whatever proof you have may well be in line with the "majority liking ME2" based on metacritic scores.  Image IPB

I could see it working as a possible ending/epilogue/coda but in the actual gameplay it would be problematic to say the least. Since any female squad mate that would or could be pregnant (i.e. Ash, Liara, Jack and maybe Kelly) would most likely have to sit out on the adventure and for some reason I can't see a pregnant female Shepard running around the galaxy fighting the Reapers.

Storywise: I could see Ash having a had a child with male Shepard after their romance in Mass Effect 1 but before the events of Mass Effect 2 and the child is being raised by Ash's family (her sisters and mom) and she kept the fact that Shepard was the father a secret to protect her child and her family from Shepard's enemies. Then somehow the Reapers have found out about Shepard and Ash's kid and this finally forces Shepard to make the hardest choice of his life: save a planet with millions of people or the life of his child.

Other than that I can't see how Shepard having a kid in the actual storyline of Mass Effect 3 would even make sense outside of an ending/epilogue/coda.

This definitely see with happen with Ashley think that would be good plot twist especially if Illusive man find out about the child and sent Kei Leng.

It might add an extra dimension to Shepard/Ash's talk on Horizon and add an extra degree of explanation (and maybe a little menace) to the Illusive Man when he says: "Her file is surprisingly well classified" at the start of Mass Effect 2.

I know. I had the exact same reaction when I saw that Garrus, Wrex and the baby krogan had five digits

Don't have to; once I've posted them, they will be quoted at least once a page for the remainder of the topic.

Still, you've got to appreciate the fantastic artwork of those pictures.

Shepard is human.. a mammal.

Wrex is a Krogan.. a reptile.

They cannot interbreed.

Same goes for Garrus.

And Thane.

And Grunt.

And Tali.

I really do like the artwork. I wish I was able to draw at all.   It's very well done, but I do need brain bleach after viewing these. Thankfully, I still have some brain bleach from the last time these were posted. ;)

Just to make a few things clear.

Shepard can be the "father" of Liara's child but technically not be the actual genetic father. The child's genetics will be based off Shepard's genetics, but as we all know asari reproduction is a mental replication of the partner's genetic code which is used to add diversity to child.

Shepard can never be made pregnant by Thane, or Garrus since it is well known that two different species can never produce offspring. Same goes for Tali and a male Shepard.

Miranda is sterile, but it seems Kaidan, Ashley, Jack, and Jacob do not have anything preventing them from having children unless I missed something. I think Jack might have some issues dealing with the Cerberus experiments though making two female love interests sterile seems like plot overkill. Similar two making two characters autistic savants in the same universe. Possible but just too uncanny.

Dragon Age: Origins did a pretty good job of letting the player choose what they did after. I can picture Shepard choosing between:

Shepard: I think I'm just going to try putting all of this behind me. Maybe even settle down.
Shepard: I'll always be an Alliance soldier. Everything else comes second.
Shepard: The Council still needs a human Spectre
Shepard: I think it's about time I found my own way. Organizations just get in the way of stopping the real criminals.
Shepard: There's an old "illusive" friend I still have to catch up with.

NO hybrids! It just doesn't work. Interspecies mating almost never works, and even then they have to in the same family, and even then they are often steril.

Species from different SOLAR SYTEMS would just simply be unable to,'they wouldn't even have the same genetic starting point as the other species.

And genetic hybrids? Wouldn't work, and if they did manage to cobble the monstrosity together it wouldnt even have your individual DNA anyways, so you might as well adopt one of the any poor sods who lost their parents in the galaxy.

Hell surrogates, while a cheesy and convoluted plot point to mention in the game, would be infinitely better than to add another bit of unexplained magic into the mass effect universe.

Dammit I miss Drew. >:(

You guys are new to the internet, right?
Seriously, it's not even THAT disturbing. There is way worse stuff out there...

@topic:
Maybe if Shepard somehow pulls off to save the galaxy and the LI survives it'd be nice to see something like this during the last cutscene or after the credits rolled. Thingking about it this could be used as a nice setup for the sequel. Mass Effect Origins, where you can pick your race at the beginning of the game

Depends. With humans (except Miranda) and Liara with a happy ending, I'd say, yes as an epilogue. With Tali, Thane, Garrus, and Miranda no.
Here's why, other than Miranda there is nothing to suggest that the humans are sterile, so they will most likely be able to conceive. Anyone can mate with an asari, so they will most likely be able to conceive.
Miranda has been told that she will never be able to have children, so no kids for she and shep (at least that perfect body won't go all fun-house-mirror.). There is no evidence to suggest that turians nor drell even give live birth. Tali is the only one who could go either way, but I'm leaning towards she and shep not having kids because they are composed of different types of proteins.

The reason I would want it to be an epilogue with the happy ending is because I personally think, in game terms, there is no way they can practically have a pregnant woman running around fighting giant robots. It simply will not work with our level of animation.

As long as romance-less Shepard doesn't get a lacking epilogue. As long as having a child isn't a guaranteed part of the outcome of riding off in to the sunset with one's LI (i.e., the player's choice).

Vyse fina, I watched 2 guys one hammer because I thought it was a fake video or a viral. Does that classed as f'd up? A guy brutally murdered? I not then what's the most messed up thing you have seen on the Internet?

Why are people so obsessed with marriage and babies? They can be wonderful in real life, but how the heck does it fit in a war story? Wanting to have a squadmate or Femshep pregnant or caring for a child during the fullscale war that is ME3 is just absolutely ridiculous.
