Seeing as I haven't got very far in the game and have missed ingredients for Suppler achievement I have decided to start again.

I am making sure to collect EVERYTHING this time (Armour for companions/ingredients etc) The one achievement I am worried about however, is 'Mage Hunter' and 'Arcane Defender'. I completed the three missions where you get to choose which side to take from the first act but for 'Enemies Among Us' I didn't know who I had actually sided with (I'm not sure if this is because I wasn't paying enough attention)

Could anyone give any hints/tips to collecting everything and/or for those choosing sides achievement?

I am not sure that the mage hunter/ arcane defender takes place before act three, but in act three you just have to pick one side and stick to it, and you should be getting one of the trophies. Take all the investigate option in the first conversation in act three and always support the same side and I am sure that you are on the right path. (I sure I got Arcande defender there). I don't think you can get both on the same playthrough.

According to xbox360achievements it is possible to get the achievements on 1 playthrough

I found the list in my data book. And it doesn seems that the first quest count towards the total, but it also says that there are only 8 quest that counts and since you have to side with either side 5 times you shouldn't be able to get both trophies in one play through - on the other hand the databook is known to be... flawed.

If you don't know the quests it is:
Wayward son, act of mercy and enemies among us in act 1. I am not entirely sure if it is what you chose to do with the person you are rescuing in enemy among us, or if it is what you say to the knight captain afterward that counts.
Act two is night terror - there is a tranquil question in that. I guess that count towards the throphy too.

Best served cold, on the loose and showdown is all about what you say. Say support templars/circle count towards mage hunter and say you don't support the templars/circle system count towards arcane defender.
I can't be more precise without getting too spoilery.
