That's pedantic bull****. The elcor have their homeworld and several colonies, and had no interest in Ekuna; the quarians had nothing.

Where does it say that the elcor had no interest? The quarians also didn't have to try and settle in Council space.

It wasn't intentional,so that renders it moot. The council are to blame for Saren and Sovereign being able to get a ready army of Geth (and Krogan) to use against the galaxy.

Because they knew all about his plans, right? They just sent Shepard after Saren for sh*tz and giggles.

First discovered by the quarians at the turn of the century, Ekuna[/b] is habitable but a second-tier choice for most species. Circling an orange sun, Ekuna averages below freezing temperatures. This led development firms to colonize at the planet's equator, where the climate is tolerable for agriculture. The quarians, seeking a homeworld of their own, petitioned the Citadel Council for the right to take over Ekuna, but they had already settled a few hundred thousand quarians on the planet before approaching the Council. Seeing this occupation as an illegal act, the Council turned a deaf ear to quarian pleas and gave the world to the elcor, who could withstand the high gravity of the world far better. The quarians squatting on the planet were given one galactic standard month to leave, at which point their colonies would be bombarded.

No?

Nope. The quarians broke the law by settling before asking.

It's pretty clearly a case of the Council intentionally knee-capping the quarians for no good reason other than they can.

Also the Quarians lost their embassy on the Citadel.

BTW, on the subject of the quarians as a whole "deserving" it, even Legion thinks they kinda screwed the quarians over back in the day:

We do not judge the creators' anger towards us. We did them great harm in the Morning War.

They indirectly enabled him. The three council races are the second greatest threat to the Galaxy.

When the Reapers are dealt with, my Shepard will lead a human-led coalition of Krogan,Geth,Quarian,Rachni,Batarian and Vorcha against them.

The elcor obviously had no interest otherwise they would have already registered some sort of intent to colonize there. It was almost entirely uninhabited (a few farms in the equatorial regions) when the quarians began setting down.

As an aside: this sort of example of judicial capriciousness is what breeds a healthy contempt for the law. ^_^

Can I assume those farms weren't quarian made?

My Shepard's new Galactic Order will be awesome. The new council will consist of Human,Batarian,Quarian,Krogan and Vorcha, and the Blood Pack will become the new C-Sec.

I don't think you can, considering it was the quarians who discovered Ekuna. They were probably quarian, though the codex entry doesn't specify. They may have been random homesteaders neither quarian nor elcor on a small enough scale that they didn't fall under colonial regulations.

Oh wait, nevermind, it says "development firms"

Who knows. Could have been automated.

I checked and you are right. But, the quarians never laid claim to Ekuna. They also excepted the Council as a legitimate government (hence the quarian embassy). They accepted the Council's rules and laws before laiming Ekuna as their own.

In other words, still their fault.:police:

The quarians' problem with Ekuna is that they asked permission, and afterwards that they actually heeded the Council's warning. If they simply stood their ground, literally, they would've had their precious planet.

Or Ekuna would've had a new crater.

The quarians no longer have an embassy and don't even reside in Council space. They accepted the Council's authority on Ekuna because they knew they couldn't stand up to them.

You want superiority? There it is.

You Council folk never cease to disgust me with your blatant hypocrisy and lack of empathy.

Sorry, but I'm not pro-Council :P

You never cease to amaze me with your apparent nonsense.

How is this a hypocrisy?

The council are the ones to blame for the Geth not the Quarians. If it wasn't for their stupidity and refusal to help the Quarians wipe out the Geth we wouldn't be facing a lot of the trouble we do now.

I disagree. If it wasn't for the quarians giving the geth the opportunity to become sapient, they wouldn't be in that mess.

So if your great great great grandfather is proven to have committed a murder and you are say a millionaire then you'd support the right of his descendants to sue for your money?

I agree with some of the sanctions levied by the council, but once the geth ejected them from their home system and made them space gypsies that they all complain about and drive away 300 years later, you'd think the sensible thing to do would be to have given them a place to live and solve all their problems and allow the quarians back into the fold. It seems unecessary. The quarians could resort to piracy against the coiuncil races and yet do not. They are subject to indignities they do not deserve. I am not pro-quarian but they do get the short end of the stick by any sensible analysis.

You were saying the debateable quarian mistake 300 years ago justifies how the council treats them right now. We don't punish Germany or Japan for WWII today let alone have done it for 300 years. So it is valid saying if you thought that justified then a more personal punishment visited upon you despite your innocence might shed light on the whole fallacy of your argument.

To keep with the theme your forebear created a robot that killed 50 people. Now you have to pay reparations because you suddenly have money your ancestors did not. Is that fair? Nope. You are punished for sins of someone long dead just like the present day quarians.

I think what he meant was "If your great great great grandfather is proven to have commited a murder, and the descedants of the person who your great great great grandfather murdered wanted to sue you for it, you (The Big Bad Wolf) would support that?"

Someone With Mass is a fine example.

And I expected a lame attempt at being smart like that.

Lol. Phaedon, you really show your true colors with stuff like that. Marshal prophesized that someone would express an anti-human sentiment in the near future, and you simply hand-wave it when it happens ON THAT VERY THREAD.

Humanity accepted some rules by the Council, just like every other races. Wanting justice for not following them is racial equality, not the exact opposite.

We agreed to the Council conventions because the Turians would have conquered and functionally enslaved our species had we not. And when we ask for the Council to fulfil their oblication to aid in the defense of their associate members (Eden Prime), the Council said 'human problem, deal with it yourselves'. They got away with it because they were still the dominant powers.

In this very thread.

Any minute now.
